Thanks - didn't mean to throw a wrench in the works! There is a list of holiday challenge meters for each team member as a column in the affiliation standings. It's a little bit harder to get to than the previous logbook, but it's still there.

FOUR Shiny New Reindeer and a flashing harness!

Post by Kona2 » December 15th, 2016, 10:44 am

We've got some serious swagger going on with all these Lunie reindeer! Overall Concept2 donations are now at almost $15,500 - more than halfway to the $30 K goal! Excellent progress by the Lunies who are contributing almost 8 million meters to the one and a half BILLION total meters in the Challenge throughout the erging universe. Mind boggling! Makes you realize that Buzz wasn't kidding when he exclaimed "To infinity and beyond!" Ooooh. We need a reindeer named Buzz! Congratulations to new reindeer claimants Jane, Janice, Ted and Mike C! And congratulations and please pass the sunglasses to Tombeur for achieving the coveted flashing red harness!

All In A Couple of Days of Erging: Team Progress Thru 12.14

Post by Kona2 » December 15th, 2016, 11:11 am

Ten days to still get a bunch of meters into the Holiday Challenge....earn your Concept2 donation and get your reindeer! And the reindeer bling!

One of my favorite comics is Bizarro, by Dan Piraro, It's on Facebook for those who might look there - I encourage you to make it a frequent stop...or better yet, ask your paper to carry it. Sometimes I have to think about them for a few...

I see a growing pot of Concept2 donations, and new reindeer in search of names, and reindeer that have earned some bling.
But that task might need a more seasoned hand. Best to wait a couple of days for K2's return.

Fun graphic; I love this guy, whoever he is!? He motivated me to calculate how many daily meters I need to row, to get Mata Hari some bling, before the deadline. Here's wishing K2 a safe drive home, missing the storm, and with no sheep's ears en route.

K2 - The significance of my Palindrome - 13431 - is pretty simple. My typical workout is a 10K. If I can get in an additional 3333 meters I get an additional 10K for every 3 workouts. The 13431 palindrome is the first that is greater than 13333. :D

Spoken like a true numbers person; you're on the right team! But, what inspired the additional 98 meters? ... :)

Sven, the reindeer, will be very happy to learn he helped bling out Mata Hari.
Sven is a character from Frozen, which I have not seen. As I am no longer a young father, and not yet a grandfather, I think I am missing out on some fun movies.
But, as you can tell from the clip below, Sven is the kind of reindeer who wants to see Mata Hari look her best.

Oh my goodness, that's Sven? I could lose my Official Grandma-of-Little-Girls License!
(And yet, I know all the words to "Let it Go," though I'm not sure about those frozen fractals.)

Yes, Virginia-bg, "blinging" is a perfectly good verb/noun gerunding kind of word.
Advanced reindeer might even conjugate it ... I bling, you bling, Olaf blings ...
(Note: maybe don't try it for Scrabble, unless there is wine involved.)

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 12.17.16

Post by Kona2 » December 18th, 2016, 1:09 pm

Just over 9 million Lunie Holiday Challenge meters in the meter piggy bank! Well done....and keep going! With just seven erging days left on the Challenge calendar, two-thirds of the Concept2 donation has been earned by the Erging Universe! It's going to happen!

Shiver me timbers and pass the hot chocolate! I did try to outrun the snowstorm, and all was good until Santa Fe yesterday morning. It was 38 F and raining hard, and I knew I would run into some snow. The thing is, once you leave Santa Fe via the I25 corridor, you're pretty much committed for 250 miles or so. Few rest stops, and some towns so small that they don't always have a petrol station. Rain turned to snow within 15 miles, and what should have been a six hour trek turned into 10 hours. There were a few hours that it was 30 mph maximum. It was so monochromatic that you almost get snowblind. Many vehicles ended up off the road - especially those trucks pulling trailers. I went from 82 F in Tucson to minus 15 F here in Denver last night. Winter driving skills were tested (and something I didn't know about called vehicle dynamics control was activated more than once) - and I am thankful to have made it through without incident. Was wishing there were a few reindeer to fly me out of New Mexico that's for sure.

Thanks to danwho and the team for cranking the graphics and the meters! Love the sleigh and full moon (so I'm stealing that one to use today). Kristine and Crossfit are an excellent match as she has moved from throwing down a half moon to throwing down a full moon. Could wrestle moose I bet, so reindeer are no problem. Here's to epic movies while completing epic full marathons! Well done to Ed and to Kristine!
