I decided to try the 1K. It hasn't been all that long that I've been cleaning up the lungs but why not. I ended up doing exactly the same score I did last May. I think I mentioned that before. Well I was in third on the LTA list. Then fourth. I was deciding if I could give it one more kick to see if I could beat that guy and another came in and took his place. If I could beat him it would take everything I have and I'm not quite ready for that just yet. I will settle for fifth place on the LTA listing. Back to my 10K days. I am nearly at my 5 million lifetime so that's cool. Spring is a good time for a long sleeve C2 shirt right? A big, way to go for those who are staying in the mud game and did the 1K. Day after tomorrow begins a whole new ball game too. Hey C2, can't you spread some of this out a bit better? haha. It's cool.
Don't forget folks it's really for the health of it.
Keep on rock'n all.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.13.16

Post by Kona2 » March 14th, 2016, 10:50 am

Image 35 Lunies stayin' alive!!! 18 at the 10K challenge level !!

Meanwhile, ANOTHER 534 ergers (that's 15 percent of yesterday's total) were jettisoned off the Progress Board. Two of them were Lunies. So where's it all going to end? We can take a look back (call it Throwback Monday) to when I had way too much time and charted out some of these things:

Image 2009

Forget about the total numbers represented...there's been a step change in participation in the last few years. I do believe that the patterns will hold, and that we will continue to vaporize participants in double digit percentages until St Patrick's Day. That's when the losses slow down as the Truly Committed try their best to hang on.

Image 2010 ...pattern says the rate of descent slows earlier than St Pat's Day...

After a million meters, you could probably tell Archimedes a thing or two about the ratio between the diameter of your erg's flywheel and its circumference. Congratulations, Steve G !!!

Another one is going to bite the dust - and it's me! The bolt that holds the footrest to the frame just sheared off while I was rowing. Since it has sheared off inside the metal tube that connects the two parts of the rower, I will have to replace the tube and bolt. I have never had something like this happen - and it's costing Challenge participation this time. I am ticked off.

That's just so wrong. I am so sorry. Here's hoping you get back up and rowing very soon. I suppose it would be cheeting if I rowed the 5k and you took the credit? Oh well.

There IS the gym

Post by Kona2 » March 15th, 2016, 3:25 pm

Well there are work arounds for most problems...and there I was at the gym...I haven't rowed at the gym except in Arizona of late, but for the price of admission I could get my rowing done. Concept2 is sending me both axles and all the bolts and lock nuts. This after I sent in the photo below showing that the bolts were not flush to the surface (ignore dog fur and shrapnel) ..and would probably shear off just as the initial one did. They are even sending them next day air so that I have minimal downtime for the rowing machine in the basement. Thank you Josh at Concept2.

Stats posting will occur after I get back from the gym again. It is good to be flexible on these things.
