New Avatar for Kona2
Jan ... tell me that your new avatar is not a blood-feeding parasite ... !

Ah, the old bicycle-helmet-as-a crab disguise. It's been (thankfully) many years since I last saw a tick ... there goes my outdoorsman merit badge.

Well, Jan, I hate to say it, but my first thought was that it was a pretty impressive tick - avatar worthy, for sure. Then, upon closer looking I could see it was a clever bike helmet. Maybe if there were some stickers on the helmet it would put things in perspective. By the way, is it a nice sized crab, or creative cut and paste of photos?
Way to go on the big milestones, y'all!
What about "hurled" peas?

acrewer wrote:Kona- a 'crab'? Surely you recall Darrell's on-the-water tales from last summer! Rowers do not like crabs...they rise up unseen out of the depths to suck your oars back under, sometimes taking you with them!
Luna-TICS yes, but no crabs.
Jan - I thought your crab helmet was pretty creative, but I gotta agree with Gina that it may not be "politically correct" with those who row on water. After my introduction to rowing on water this summer, I have become wary of crabs. There are big ones out there lurking just below the surface just waiting for the opportunity to attack! Big enough that moose sized guys can have difficulty dealing with them! And I think they are enough of a concern to me that I don't think I would ever row on water without a rescue nearby, since pfd's while rowing aren't an option. I'm very glad there aren't land crabs that attack indoor rowers! Lets hope those water based crabs don't mutate and become a problem for indoor rowers. But it is strange that I have never had a crab attack my canoe paddle in the thousands of miles I have paddled. My theory is crabs attack those who aren't looking forward and vigilantly watching for them. Shell rowers looking backward must be easy prey.... Darryl
Canoe Scout
Don't know if on the water rowers ever use mirrors clipped to visors or glasses....so we'll need a good canoe scout....with handcrafted paddles (treated with special anti-crab weatherproofing materials). .....
I do remember the rowing crabbing pictures...what a cluster....so to speak.
