Whooooosh! That's the sound of you and your erg flying through yet another month as we finish the first quarter of the Concept2 2016 season!

Dog Days of Summer

The Dog Days of Summer runs from August 1–28 and features a different total distance goal each week.

The Details

Row or ski, indoors or outdoors, completing each of the following four distance goals during the timeframes indicated and log them in your online logbook:
Week 1, Aug. 1–7: 10,000 meters
Week 2, Aug. 8–14: 20,000 meters
Week 3, Aug. 15–21: 30,000 meters
Week 4, Aug. 22–28: 40,000 meters
The distance goals do not have to be done in one sitting, but must be done during the timeframe indicated. By the end of the challenge, you will have accumulated 100,000 meters.

For kids (aged 16 and under) and adaptive athletes, the weekly meter totals are as follows, for a total accumulation of 50,000 meters:
Week 1, Aug. 1–7: 5000 meters
Week 2, Aug. 8–14: 10,000 meters
Week 3, Aug. 15–21: 15,000 meters
Week 4, Aug. 22–28: 20,000 meters

Meters must be entered online.
Indoor rower, on water, SkiErg, and on snow meters count

And so it begins! This is for all the dogs who have been or will be in our lives! Let us all become more dog!

Happy Dogust to dogs everywhere. My late service dog George was a shelter dog,and I still can't even think of replacing him.
Richard, looking forward to that race, glad nbc is airing it,we have dropped satellite package and I miss sports.
Espn has been airing the Special Olympic games and have caught some at hospital and in-laws. Watch these athletes if you have the chance, thanks Lily and Gene for having participated before and also being on our team. I had more fun being an SO coach than any coaching I ever did.

And, perhaps more pertinently: The term “dog days of summer” was coined by the ancient Greeks and Romans to describe the hottest days of summer that coincided with the rising of the Dog Star, Sirius.

Well, I'm sure grateful that the god Freon is rubbing Sirius's belly.

Hi brother jim! I have to agree with you, my wife and 2 sons coached SO for 20+ years - all sports, drove the bus and had the time of our lives. I miss it!!! I would rather coach these athletes then any other. I have been able to catch a little bit if the games over here. Inspirational to say the least. I am a better person for spending time with these athletes. They taught me more than I could ever teach them.

If any of you get the chance - tune in and really see what teamwork and sports is truly about watching these athletes compete.

Did I ever tell you I hate the heat here!!! haha We hit 122 most of last week and the humidity kicked in this week. Walk out side and your ready to go back in for a shower.

Happy rowing Ed
