Richard T,

I'm sorry if anything I said about dogs offended you.
You are so very right about all the canine heroes out there: The service dogs, therapy dogs, search and rescue dogs, the dogs in school reading PAWS programs and dogs that serve and protect our service men and women to list just a few specific examples. And, dogs are everyday heroes for the love and companionship they bring to our lives.
We have always adopted dogs and it is truly moving and humbling to see dogs that have been abused and neglected respond to kind and loving care. How some of these poor souls can still love and trust humans after such treatment truly amazes me.
Like many others who have run and biked I have had unpleasant episodes with dogs, but I believe that the fault lies almost exclusively with the humans, not the dogs.
It took quite a while to write this because Frosty is in my lap and he insists on editing :!: :? Gee whiz, I haven't had such a critic since my seventh grade English teacher

Jim, sorry the news from the Doc wasn't better. Hope the continuous infusion will do the trick to clear up the infection quickly.

Jim sorry you have to deal with this, I'm assuming you were given some strong antibiotics, It's the best thing to stave off infection if administered early. I've had plenty of experience with this, and just hope your doc is taking good care of you. No bad feelings, you had a bad experience and shared it, and it sparked a lot of conversation which is what this team room is for. I've had a couple bad encounters with dogs, but enumerable great experiences. Dogs generally just want to please us, I had Aussies several years ago that I trained to get chicken eggs from the chicken coupe, I remember they would be so excited to bring me eggs, and I'd say they were successful 80% of the time getting them to me unbroken :D Dog days are almost upon us Hope everyone is feeling good and ready for it and hope for a quick recovery Jim.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.24.15

Post by Kona2 » July 25th, 2015, 10:31 am

Welcome to 2016 season for Juliette and dtudury! Always great to see returning teammates...especially those who are obviously suited up to go to the moon!

I forgot to upload the latest spreadsheet so that I could access it from my current remote mountain "laboratory" - and cannot give a snapshot of the daily gains that everyone made yesterday. Apologies. I will sort out the numbers and other milestones tomorrow.

Meanwhile, for those looking ahead to CONSIDER participating in the regional CRASH B's....here's a link to locations near you:

There's a lot of time to get ready!

Hah! One of the regional sites is a whopping 3 miles from my house; there goes my "February in Boston. Not." excuse.
But, I still don't think there's enough time to get ready ... !

Nice rowing, DDR-RON! And, kudos to all our renowned Million-Meter-Plus Lunatics.

No stats right now, but there was definitely a photo op at Rocky Mountain National Park...west entrance. This moose is a whopper.

Had my stitches out today and some bad news. Infection may be in my bone (big dog, big teeth) . Have to go next week for mri or ct to see exactly where. Dr says bone scraping and port put in for continuous iv. Told Bobbie' s dad we could have port to port calls.
A lot more serious than I thought, 12 mile bike ride turns into this. But having all your support in forum, and knowing how many teammates have much worse to deal with, I can handle this.
And drat, wanted to lead team this year, but as a true Cub fan, wait till next year.

ouch :[ sending a lot more healing/healthy thoughts...

Thanks for all the congrats. It's been a slow start this year for me but, I know if I didn't have this great team for inspiration I'd never make as far as I do :D
I don't know how many meters I'll get in today. I'm very sore. Yesterday I played furniture mover. Lyn bought a huge old cabinet on Craig's List and we had a heck of a time getting it into the house. We got it in on its side and them when we tired to turn it upright, our ceilings were too low. Lyn was about ready to cry  Then I had the Eureka ( I know wrong Greek) moment. Good old Pythagoras came to the rescue. If we just turned the cabinet on its back the hypotenuse was about half a foot less. I felt pretty foolish (i.e. stupid) not thinking of this before   You are right, K2, all that math is important :)

PM5 IPhone

Post by Thor MW » July 26th, 2015, 2:31 pm

Hi amazing team dudes and dudettes. I posted previously of some of the problems I was having with running the phone on the PM4. Since you need a cord to connect the phone to the PM4, you can’t charge the phone while you crank up the meters. I have been using a PM5 this last week and I have to say I am liking the way it works with the phone. It is Bluetooth so I no longer need a cord to connect. This means I can leave the phone plugged in to a battery or to the wall for power. My HR belt works fine.

About the only down side is the cradle I bought with my PM4 doesn’t fit on the PM5. Some tape would take care of that. Not an issue for me here as I have a little table beside me that holds my phone close enough I don’t even need to use an extension cord for my headphones. When I get my old grey machine back I will think about upgrading to the PM5. I know Janice has had some problems using the USB stick on the PM5 but thus far I’ve had no issues with the Bluetooth. She got some rather strange error messages. Don’t ask, I can’t remember any of them. Grin.

The mighty Thor is swinging a somewhat larger hammer now. I should be back to my usual soon. It really doesn’t take all that long to get back where you were. Rest easy Jim and anyone else who is forced off the erg for a while. We’ll keep your seats warm and all will be fine.

Happy meters all

Good to hear from you Thor. Man, all that technical stuff makes my poor Luddite head spin :? Just make sure it's Thor's hammer, not "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", your swinging
