All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 10.25.14

Post by Kona2 » October 26th, 2014, 12:50 pm

Welcome back for the 2015 Concept2 Erg Season to Brian and Lee ! Always good to see returning teammates!

Image A follow up to an earlier episode!

Back in late September, I started seeing these woolly caterpillars...and there was some discussion about whether or not they were predictors of a harsh winter. Danwho also noted that there was a festival for these little hummers in Minnesota for sure. I was perusing the USA Today last week - they have a page that shows some short blurbs on what is going on in each state. Here's what they had to say about North Carolina on 10/22/14:

Nothing like naming your woolly bear caterpillar after the hunchback of Notre Dame....Quasimodo....clever mountain people these Banner Elkians...

Looks like Kwazimodo has another race to win.
Not sure we'll be getting a prediction this year.

Does anyone else hear a faint "Sanctuary! Sanctuary!"

Ah! Can't sneak anything past you.. but the dome of St. Mark's in the background is probably even more than Doug Henning's (remember him?) powers of misdirection could deal with.
Yeah, the Tardis outside the Colosseum seemed to work best with the Whovian theme we had going. But our actual anniversary trip was a great big tour of Italy - and we had a great time!
Here's the trip details:

Miss Direction is what I call Siri when the virtual she sends me down a farm road that parallels the ACTUAL road I would have preferred to be driving...and, speaking of farm roads, I was on a few of those yesterday in search of the Great Pumpkin...

Will the Image Royals prevail tonight? A baseball friend who is a San Francisco Giant fan says we didn't invent the American game of baseball to have a team named the Royals win the World Series. Ha. As Lorde the singer would say...."We'll Never Be Royals" but you can be Queen Beeeeee...

Not a quibble, but that should be 12121 for the palindrome, rather than 11221.
You do such a great job that I feel like I should just keep my mouth shut, rather than be thought pedantic. :)

Well...what a bummer for you! I did have it as a palindrome and not a double double. I put the first two in the wrong spot of the code. Rats. I'm ok with quibbles - and did want to especially note that your palindrome had a very who-ville look since it is one that Danwho likes as well. So, good call !

Meanwhile, it took me a couple readings of bg's post to realize that she was (not surprisingly) saying that she is a Tom Brady fan since she is a Boston gal. And she is indeed running her 13th Boston Marathon ... lucky 13. Cool stuff, Barbara. It is always good to support the home team. I think it interesting that the Patriots were just as willing as the Broncos to not always pursue those that had reached free agency. It's a business, and unlike the fan base, the teams appear to be able to take a lot of the emotion out of their choices. So, when Talib waits around and doesn't get his offer of $12 million from the Patriots (who then go out and replace him with ANOTHER guy for $12 million), he takes the better offer. And all the fans hope for the best possible outcome to the game. I do question how it feels okay that the Patriots have gotten home advantage SIX out of the EIGHT games they have last played. I would say that's just not right, and the NFL says it will all be right as it flips in the next six years. So remember that one down the road as I am sure we will continue to have the Patriots vs Broncos discussion in the future. Hahaha!

K2 K2 K2 As far as Games being played in DENVER . Until they move the stadium down to a lower altitude. No games should be played there. Isn't that where athletes go to train for Olympics The next highest Stadium is in AZ 1070' Thinner air Longer field Goals Records Ha not fair.

Richard T and I are going to have a pumpkin growing contest this next year. Since I do not have a huge garden space that I am willing to devote to just ONE pumpkin, I am going to try and get a 100 to 200 lb pumpkin. One that hopefully still looks like a pumpkin! Some of the big winners for the giant squash are coming in at 2000 lbs, and are like big pumpkin blobs. Apparently, we have a bit of work to do to get the soil ready for this adventure, and that soil prep starts in the fall before the spring/summer planting. Stay tuned for pumpkin progress reports - and if anyone else wants to enter this pumpkin challenge, I think it would be a Lunie thing to do!
