Did the 4 minutes again this morning
1175 @1:42 which goes to 1347m for the IRL
Terry did one too 1060m. He has had a month off with a neck problem so happy enough with that - should adjust pretty well once entered.

We have 8 up now for the IRL - Terry's 1060 went over 1400 which is nice and puts us on the first page. We do have room for one more - will have a look around.

I am rowing a bit but have held off joining as I'm very unlikely to complete every month. If you can't find anyone I would be happy to join again.

Went through the 10 million metre mark last night - 782+ hours of rowing to get there over 15+ years (with a couple of lengthy breaks in between). I think that Model D purchase back in October 2004 was a good decision. :D I'm assuming I'll look back on last month's BikeErg purchase with a similar feeling in the end.

Have already put in my entry for BRIC18 - my gamble on venue and date back in March paid off when we booked plane tickets and accommodation! We were going over for a Christmas holiday anyway, so it wouldn't have been the end of the world if they'd changed either, but it's nice when things work out. Now back to the training, so that I get the time down enough not to finish last in the 40-49 heavies.

I saw Lindsay has mentioned going through as well. Anyone else from the team thinking about it?

Dave

Well done Dave, through the 10 million mark, a great achievement.

I see form your Team Fall Challenge you like to rack up the meters, over 100k already, I'm currently aiming to do 30-40k/week depending if I get 3 or 4 sessions in/week.

Although I'm British I live in France (until BREXIT, thanks Mr Farage & co) and wont be making it back for the BIRC, I might have a go though, at the same time, on my trusted old 'C' model. I think I bought my machine in about 2002, at the time I played a bit of Squash, nothing serious just club stuff, and thought that rowing would help improve my stamina. I use to row for an hour at a time and aimed to keep my splits around the 2:00 mark, this is all from memory as I didn't know about the on-line family that existed. I only started logging my meters back in 2015, still hopefully I have a good number of years left in me and the machine.

It was because I found the 1 hour spent on the machine a bit boring that I discovered the BIRC and did do a bit of training based on a concept 2 programme leading up to the BIRC event I competed in, 2005 I think.

I hope you enjoy the day, I recall I found it very hard, my wife, who saw me just after I finished, thought I was going to die, so did I!

Are you following a plan leading up to the race, if so how's it going?

Cheers.

Hi jp

I started a 26 week Interactive training plan (4 days a week) back in mid-January. I still have a few weeks left on it, because I had some work-related interruptions through the year. I'll do the final time trial when I eventually get to it, which will help give a sense of where I am time-wise on the 2k. I'll see how many weeks I have left by then, and probably just repeat the last few weeks in the run up to 8 Dec.

The metres just seem to accumulate with the warm ups and cool downs that go with the sessions. I've been using the BikeErg during the rest days which has also been adding to the mileage (although I think it gets divided by 2 when going into the challenge totals). I normally hook it up to Zwift which makes the time fly by.

Heading off on a week's holiday on Sunday, so won't be adding to the totals until next Saturday.

Dave

Hi Dave

I remember now, you gave me the link for the interactive training, hope that all works out for you.

Enjoy your hols. and I know you'll keep us up to date on your progress and on your performance at the BIRC.

Cheers.

Hello all,

Thought i'd pop my head round the door to say hello to my fellow Forum Flyers (again... this time after more than a year hiatus, with big personal, professional and geographical changes for the sake of my happiness, health and well-being). Hope you are all keeping well too.

Now that things have settled down, I have joined a new gym which is conveniently only a 10-min walk from home with about 10 rowing machines (although not necessarily best maintained).

The aims remain the same as before with weight/fat to lose and improve the blood pressure (unfortunately on an additional second tablet for the BP since the beginning of the year, work and stress took its toll back then). Managed to drop the weight from 115kg to 110 kg over the last 3 months after my move (shifting boxes helped !) , but i need the erg now to focus further and take me down to the next level (105 first, the aim being a maintained sub-100).

So lots of endurance work to start with. Did 30min/6k on Thu & Fri and 40 min/8k this morning (added to the team's FTC of course B) )

Nice to be back. Onwards and upwards. :D

Hello Jack,

Good to be back, hopefully for a steady long run B)

Did a UT2 10K today just under 51 min (DF 115 SPM 20). That felt "good" :D

We have the CTC choice for November, suggestions please.

1) Eleventh hour. 111m x 11, 30 sec rest. Total metres. 1st standing start rest rolling

2) 11 x 1 min, 1 min rest (from Shirley on Facebook group)
3) 1111m
4) 11 min
5) Something to tie into 100 years since end of WW1? e.g. 1914m / 1918m with x min rest
