I think that's five we've bought, through the ages (seven years, maybe), and there are three regular users. No big deal, I was just wondering how often others need to replace their log cards?
I've gone through 3 since I started in March of 2010. One I filled, one I accidentally broke in half  and one just wouldn't work in the PM3 anymore. That's with just me using the rower.
Thanks for all the congrats on our new family member. I'll try to get a picture up soon. Ever since we renamed him Rocky I can't get the old Beatles' song, Rocky Raccoon, out of my head :?

I actually have 756k lifetime overall...I took a year off due to pregnancy and a rough delivery (for me and the baby) and caring for my little guy - my first child and wanting to soak in all the special moments. But he is 6 months old (and healthy as can be) and this new mom is trying to get her million meter pin! :D

The only issue I have had returning is that the rowing is shredding my heels. I have tried anti chafe lotion, duct tape over the heels, tying my shoes tighter, etc., but they are a mess. Next may be different shoes. Anything else you all would suggest?

Welcome back, Kerry !
Sorry, no experience with that heel pain. New shoes sounds like the right plan. I guess it's possible that the foot plate needs a little adjusting. Your son may have changed the setting. :D

Kerry,

I checked the Concept2 database to see if there had been a discussion of heel chafing...and found there was a good discussion thread. I particularly like the options that ToddMR lists:

http://www.c2forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12062

For those who might not check out the thread, here' s what Todd MR posts:

I haven't had a problem with blisters from the rowing machine, but I was a distance runner for years, and I'll give you my two cents on foot care learned during that period. FWIW, I wear Chuck Taylors to row.

First, understand that when you blister, it's because that part of you foot is rubbing something, i.e., moving against something.

1. Check your shoe lacing. If your heel slides too much in the shoe, causing blisters, there are lacing tricks that can help. I'd head over to runnersworld.com and check out their videos on lacing tricks for different fitting problems.

2. Try different socks. I blister whenever I wear cotton socks. Thor-lo, though expensive, last forever in my experience, and are the best thing for blister-proofing my feet. It means about an extra half-size in my shoes, though, they're so thick.

3. Some folks have better luck with two pair of thin socks, or special socks that have two layers. Like most hikers wear a thin wicking layer next to the skin, and their heavier boot sock over that, the two layers of fabric rub against each other easily, taking the friction off your foot.

4. If you're developing a pre-blister hot-spot, a little vaseline or other lubricant works well to prevent it from worsening. Worst case scenario, you can usually find a stick of chap-stick for a dollar, which is basically vaseline, and smear it on the hot-spot.

If these don't work for you or you want other opinions, check out your local running store. Not a big box sporting goods store that happens to sell running shoes, but a local shop that caters to serious runners. They'll have all the tricks and products.

Finally, I might cruise the forums at runnersworld.com or other running sites, as runners know as much about blisters and blister prevention as anyone on the planet.

Thanks for the reply on chafing. I may try some different socks and shoes (have a pair that might work well). Have been wearing Smartwool socks but have others I can try - benefit of being a runner! :) Took a day off today for a friend's wedding but hope to get back to it tomorrow. My heels are a mess. Ouch! I have a ton of running friends I will hit up for ideas if I don't find the solution on my own.

It is also what happens when Rocky wants to play extreme tennis ball catch three or four times a day  We got all the paperwork on Rocky yesterday. The foster home said he was about a year and half old, but the vet paperwork from SC (most of the dogs in this rescue group come from SC or Puerto Rico) shows he is not quite a year old. I guess he is still in his "puppy" faze B)
It was funny yesterday when I came up from the basement after rowing. When Rocky saw me in my sweaty rowing cloths he got scared and ran away. It has same the effect on Lyn

PS And, yes Richard, the vet form listed as a lab/retriever mix with question marks :?
