I claimed a reindeer in the holiday challenge, I've every intention of claiming a canoe. Maybe even a caricature, but I've never done 200k in one month before - in fact, I've only done 212k lifetime! But, If I'm going to achieve the million by summer, I need to get going!

You can do it! I know you can!

Image Day 10 or 11 of 31 .... AAARRRRGH !

By stealth, taking advantage of the near moonless night, neighboring tribes slipped their boats in front of ours...trying to create a blockade! We know that the wind will shift, and secret passageways (or portages!) await to move us forward...if we can pull enough lunar power together!

It's Friday or Saturday depending on hemispheric location! That means there might be opportunities for MORE meters than usual for many teammates....and right now, we could surely use additional ones to regain a spot or keep from being overtaken by others. EVERY meter counts...and for those who have not yet had a chance to contribute any meters, there is no time like the present to increase our percent participation. We're one-third of the way through the Challenge ! Still LOTS of time left to add meters! And canoes....because we have a couple more canoes today, also. Congratulations to Guinan Jane and Ronda Wilson for completing the first milestone of 100,000 m !

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 1.9.14

Post by Kona2 » January 10th, 2014, 1:25 pm

We have several teammates who are on the very EDGE of ONE million meter milestones....so close they could just give the erg chain a few pulls and there they would be. And they would have been there, too, except they were busy rowing a fun number like 11,111 or 11,777 ... THOSE kinds of numbers that make posting stats a fun task for me. Still, these thoughts propelled me down a bunny trail. I completed my first biking century ride in 2004 during a Ride the Rockies week long cycling event. It was an awesome day where the route took us from Granby CO to Steamboat Springs CO over the 9500 ft elevation of Gore Pass. We dropped from snowpack into an area of rolling ranchland. More horses than cows then. It was great scenery. The climb up and over Gore Pass had surely taken its toll, and I was getting slower as the mileage milestones went past 80 miles. The idea that people who ride faster spend a lot less time on the bike seat definitely crossed my mind. But what really helped me get across the finish line was having a speedier riding partner who circled back and rode with me during the last ten miles or so - just so we would complete this milestone at the same time. I went on to do several more centuries that year, but like many FIRST EVER milestones, that experience has stayed with me. I bet there are a bunch of teammates who could relate similar stories. And so it is with your first million meters, or your 10th million meters. You think about all the hours that have gone before that one erg session that's going to take you across the metric milestone.

Welcome back to Scott R - always good to have you on the team roster!

Season meters as of 354/365 = 101,805,394 m

Total meters on the day = 1,582,677 m

Oars in space (participation) = 37 percent

I'm 14k below average in Luna-Tics, yet I'd improve the average of any of our competitors. Not very commited are they? ;-)
