LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress for 2.24.08
Great start to the rowing week yesterday! Check out the team standings page - there are profile updates and new photos for several team members!
Total meters for the day: 178,790 m
Contributions ranged from 3K - 21+K
33 percent of our oars/paddles in the virtual water
Total meters on the season: 32,303,343 m
(1,605,311 m from NFRC) - who haven't responded to my request for what the initials stand for (I believe Chris' guess of No Frills Rowing Club is probably accurate)
Milestones:
800 K Jan S
Million Meter Watch: Noelle B is closing the gap (79,000 m to go!)
Mega-Rowers:
Chris T 21,254 m (back to back half marathons!)
Dan C 20,134 m
Jan S 15,000 m
March Madness begins Saturday
Leap Challenge?? Is there one?

It looks like two HMs but was 2-3 separate sessions each day as time allowed ... or after people in Florida (Dan) had gone to bed! I've only logged HMs using the C2 Log countdown ... big difference in "gasp" level, though I'm certainly not meaning to devalue the cumulative meters. (I was making soap yesterday - lots of down time while oil and lye were cooling.)

RE: Stats clarification for 2.24.08
Thanks for clarification on the half-marathon type of distance, Chris. I only see the cumulative meters for the day and wanted to recognize appropriately. The cumulative meters are pretty impressive too!
Perhaps when someone DOES complete one of these mega distances (half or full marathon), this feat can be noted on this forum? I think you did this before, Chris, and I know that Bill Hawthorne has done this for TimbukTOO.
Of course, for me, if I ever post such an event it is going to read:
WIPEOUT! Can you tell I've been rowing to surfing tunes this AM?

Re: RE: Back to back half marathons
Go Surfaris ... I'm impressed that you row in the AM. It makes a lot of sense on days that include evening commitments ... but I have a basic bad attitude and no flexibility until noon-ish. My alarm's set for 6:30am and I think I'd break if I rowed before that.Kona2 wrote:RE: Stats clarification for 2.24.08

Just came across the Free Spirits stat site: http://rowing.flugsvamp.com/freespirits ... nking.html
It looks like they actually circled the moon a while back!

Thanks to all
Thank you to everyone. I never thought I could make a million. We are in our new house now so the upacking begins. I can row a lot of meters because I listen to heavy metal music...mostly Sanctuary...lots of bass and steady beat. I also have some slow Celtic music for pace rowing. My MP3 plays about 5 hours but as you can see I am not up to that level yet. I would like to know where all the freebies are that everyone always talks about. When I made the JVC you all said there would be freebies but all I got was a link to BUY a t-shirt and since I seldom wear t-shirts it wasn't worth it to me.
On another subject...what the heck happened to Tom???? I thank all the Lunatics for the incentive to get my meters up but Tom was my inspiration. I figured if a man 20 years older than me could do it than so could I.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress for 2.25.08
Great rowing Luna-Tics! We've got a lot of people viewing our team room: had over 200 hits yesterday!
Total meters for the team on 2.25.08 = 141,885 m
27 percent of our oars were in the virtual water with contributions ranging from 3.1K to 22.2K
Total meters on the season = 32,445,228 m (projecting 33 million by Friday!)
For those of you who have been wondering "Where's Tom?" and "How's He Doing?" - he's posted an update in the teams section of the forum!
Milestones:
1.3 MM Dan C
1.3 MM Chris T
Mega-Meter Postings
Lisa J 22,249 m
Dan C 18,678 m
Diane D 15,000 m
Annual Meters Honor Board: Counts Off Water Meters
I used to think that the rowers who had in the millions of meters rowed this MEGA distance every single day - and that's just not true. What is true is that these individuals generally have a consistent approach, row 5 to 7 days out of the week. If you look at the Annual Meters Honor Board in the Challenges section, you'll see that an individual rowing 10,000 meters a day (and how many of those have we seen posted!) would already have a little more than 3 million meters to date with a projected 4 MM finish for the year which, by the way, is 64 days away. So for a team comprised of many individuals with other activity pursuits in addition to rowing - we're doing well!

Jan,
Thanks for "finding" Tom. I just left him a message on his thread.
Do you still need someone to take over the stats updates for you while you are on your upcoming trip?
Is there anyone out there who would like to give it a try?
I can do it if nobody else can, but since we are all a Team it would be great if someone else wants to step in and help out. Jan makes it look pretty easy.

Guest Stats Tracker Needed!
Guest Stats Tracker Needed for March 6 thru March 11th.... I will be heading to Tucson to watch a couple of Colorado Rockies spring training games and will make sure I get to a Concept2 rower, but couldn't promise that I would have internet access. Rather than just skipping the stats for a few days, I'm seeking some team participation in this one!
Here's the plan: I will email the stats spreadsheet on March 3rd to the team member who would like to try their hand at the stats update. This will give the individual a couple of days to ask questions, make sure the spreadsheet works for them. What's required is looking at the team standings page each day at a consistent time (I usually do this in the AM, but it certainly can be done in the evening), noting the total meters posted for each team member and entering those in the spreadsheet. The formulas in the spreadsheet will calculate the difference from the previous day and give you the meters for the day. The season total will appear in both the team standings and it should total the same when you finish entering everyone's numbers. If it doesn't - you get the idea. You'll have to manually look through for the milestones - it doesn't call them out for you. I generally save each day's spreadsheet as a separate file name, just in case there is a wahoo moment. I will be glad to share other details on how to change the rankings when one team member passes another, and so forth to the individual(s) who wants to help out with this one.
I think it would be fun to see other perspectives on team stats - it takes about 20 to 30 minutes each day depending upon how much drama I sense behind the scenes: Chris and Dan are in quite the virtual rowing challenge! These are the things that seem to make it fun for everyone.
The stats sheet looks like:
If you are interested in trying this, send me a PM with your email address and I will send the stats sheet to you. Then, on the 11th, you can email the stats sheet as it exists at that time back to me and I'll proceed to enter the next batch. There will be several opportunities for guest trackers as I have a few week long bike trips planned for summer, etc. - and it may be that others want to do this more frequently anyway.
During the NARC (which starts March 15th), if we get any other rowers joining in who are not members of the team year round, I will have to figure out how to incorporate / tally their meters if these are not posted somewhere. Any suggestions on this?
By the way, when the new rowing year begins, I will ask Dena H and company if we can post the stats spreadsheet format on their website so that other teams can do this.
Let me know! Jan (Kona2)

Just make a new spreadsheet for the challenges with the new members added. There is a way to check their daily meters..it is a part of managing the team..maybe whoever manages the team can share the info with the stat keeper.

Uh huh. I'm just so proud to have pushed Dan on-and-on-and-on! At this rate he will blow right by Steven and set his sights on Tim ... watch out, guys! (Rats, I have stuff to do every night this week ... wonder if my bridge group would mind if I row a quick set whenever I'm "dummy" this evening ... )
Thanks for offering to keep us on track, Pat. You rock.

I am the one who manages the team for the team challenges. I can email a daily meters update to whoever is doing the stats sheet.
Pat, that is very nice of you to volunteer. Are you doing the stats for your team also, or is Nathaniel doing it (if I remember right, he was the one who originally posted the stats link info; or was it you?)

Jan,
I just posted the pictures and links for the LUNA-TICS Logo products on the introduction post in our Team Room.
Is the logo on the back of the shirt a special logo for the 2007 JVC? I think I remember you saying it was.
If so, I think you should make a new shirt that is not commemorative of a specific challenge. Probably, you could just replace that back logo with a different one, or just eliminate it.
I will put a temporary note on the link for now to make sure nobody orders something unexpected.
