Is that what I'm seeing out the porthole on our space ship!??Kona2 wrote: The other forest animals are starting to give Christmas Lights tours of the Luna-Tic herd....wowzer, what a good glow we've got going!
Hah. I've been terrified twice, in a lifetime of flying, during landings ... both times at DEN!Kona2 wrote:Back in Denver now....and let me say that our reindeer need some training in flying with wind shear....hooboy...some landings are scary.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Hello - I'm interested in joining the Luna-tics as a year-round affiliation and for the upcoming Virtual Team Challenge. I'm relatively new to the the world of rowing (started on 10/29/13) and would like the added motivation associated with joining a community. Are you taking new members?
BTW - I work at the Johnson Space Center and the name of the team just seems like a perfect fit.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Welcome aboard! I'll have to get us on the Virtual Challenge list. For affiliation designation, go into your logbook, hit profile, edit profile, and scroll down to affiliation. You can join us for Holiday Challenge - too - you have time to earn a reindeer I'll bet.dgoforth wrote:Hello - I'm interested in joining the Luna-tics as a year-round affiliation and for the upcoming Virtual Team Challenge. Bummer. Lost some more reindeer.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Thanks! I'm now affiliated and am working towards the 200k meter mark in the Holiday challenge.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Welcome to the team dgoforth! You picked the right team. Great bunch of folks here. Everyone is here to help motivate and help along the journey.dgoforth wrote:Thanks! I'm now affiliated and am working towards the 200k meter mark in the Holiday challenge.
Happy rowing from Qatar!

Another reindeer claimed !
Reba (PRINCESS )
We are once again in the presence of royalty....reindeer royalty this time, though! Congratulations, Reba, on reaching the Concept2 donation milestone and claiming your royal reindeer! Sparkling antler lights will look good with your tiara.

Another reindeer claimed !
Douglas (ROVER)
Douglas just joined the team - and had enough meters during the Holiday Challenge to claim his reindeer right away (convenient that it works out that way!). Here in Reindeer Central I was scrolling through the list of reindeer names...and definitely was thinking of using an explorer theme based on Douglas's last name of "Goforth." Da Do Ron Ron's posting of "Go forth and multiply.." reminded me of the Vulcan saying "live long and prosper"....so the reindeer name is Spock ! Definitely a galactic connection for our man at the Space Center.
Hold the presses! Just read Peter G's note below...and I agree...ROVER is an excellent name. We will save SPOCK for future reference.....thanks!

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Hi Doug - Welcome aboard the star ship Lunatic! "Working toward 200k meter mark in the Holiday challenge!" Now that's the spirit... just the kind of Luna-tic we need!dgoforth wrote:Thanks! I'm now affiliated and am working towards the 200k meter mark in the Holiday challenge.
Kona, I think I found a reindeer name for our new teammate once Doug crosses the finish line. It seems the Johnson Space Center it home to a small herd of deer and a Mini Rover. I would think Rover would make a good name for a reindeer don't you?
Read the full store here: "A Miniature Sleigh and Eight Tiny Reindeer"
Cheers,

Ken G (THUNDER) Thunder has earned his antler lights as Ken G rows past the 200,000 m milestone! Lots of donation $$$ there!
Stuart (LIGHTNING) Lightning has earned his antler lights as Stuart rows past the 200,000 m milestone! Wow! I knew that Thunder and Lighting often happened in the same storm, but who knew that our reindeer Thunder and Lightning would both light up the skies on the same day! Good stuff !
Tristan (RUDOLPH) Congratulations, Tristan, on reaching the Concept2 donation amount. You've earned Rudolph since you are the youngest teammate to reach 50K !
And, never fear, to the other young people who are rowing and ski-erging: we still have some special reindeer with different colors of blinking noses waiting for you to free them!
Season meters as of 229/365 = 76,827,935 m
Total meters on the day = 1,471,188 m
Oars in space (participation) = 36 percent

Scrambled
Some people read the cereal box. I was reading the back of the Pillsbury you bake em cookie box. The one with the sugar cookies with trees on them. I'm not much for word scrambles, but some of you are -- so here's a quick seasonal challenge on figuring out all the words.

Tristans team won their semifinal game Friday and play the 21st for the state 3A title. They made it last year too but lost in the last minute on a Bradyesque drive and td. I hope to go to the game, missed Fridays game due to a short hospital stay. Go Beavers!
