LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
duck hunting
Thanks for all the comments about Orion, Anais and Elias and thanks to Jan for posting their pictures on the team page. -c2 does not like macs for uploading pictures-
Orion did amend his profile to include news about receiving is kids club pins for 5,000 and 10,000 meters and a bunch of cool stickers and tatoos. He is very excited. I am trying to get Anais to go for the 5,000. Elias could too - he is the same weight as Anais but he is three - an age that cannot be recorded in c2 computers because their years only go up to 2004.
Anyway -duck hunting. good news and bad news.
I have been tracking our duck hunting efforts for the last 10 days. I think our challenge may have flushed the ducks a bit. The ducks row, on average, 10,500 meters more than us each day. Thus they are 105000 meters ahead of us over 10 days ago. The good news is the average percentage spread over us is only about 1/10 of a percent more. In other words, their percent more meters than us is 7.6 %.
Conclusions: Well, we just need to row more. 10500 team meters more a day would keep the meter spread the same and start to chip away and the percentage. More than this would start to bridge the gap. - think catching the breakaway in the tour de france. Adding some more rowers to the team and/or activating some with few meters this season would help.
Our 100th day of rowing is coming up soon - a week from friday I think - how about a team challenge of 200,000 meters that day? ANyone up for making a pledge? Getting up early if your sabbath starts at sundown?

Or you could come to Daytona Beach and see the real thing. We hard our 15th shark bite this year. We usually average 17. Yesterdays paper had a picture of surfer in the foreground and a shark airborne behind him.
I don't go in the water any more!!!!!

... or, maybe we should just use our water for freezing and plopping small chunks into our beverages! Yikes on the surfers vs. shark picture shot at your local beach. The photographer sounded really surprised to capture that image.

Hey, did I miss welcoming some new members to the team???? I just took a look at all the new pictures, and see Thomas Tullia has joined us. Welcome, Thomas! I love to see that so many of our team has pictures posted. My dream is 100 percent photos and entries on the team page. It is so fun to be able to put a face to the team, and read about some of the hobbies, goals and philosophy that makes us who we are.
Doctor Dan, I had to laugh at myself when I saw your photo on the team roster, because I was surprised at first glance that your pointy ears and furry face were not in the picture! It is amazing what a good shave will do for a guy, huh?
Okay, I'm really a LUNA-TIC. Now you all know the truth. I think I'll go brush my teeth now.

Challenge for Meters from Jane
Jane - here's a counterproposal for the extra meters you are challenging us to make up. It's based on the fact that our team rows FEWER meters on Friday than any other day of the week.
What about giving everyone the whole week to row any extra meters they wish to commit to - with the goal of being at an extra 200K by Friday? Everyone should have a pretty good idea what they row in a week. The active number of rowers is generally between 10 and 14 on any given day. Unless we are asking the folks who typically do a half marathon here and there (or like practically EVERY day for Dan) to carry a lot of this extra meters, we will need some extra time for the meter volume you are suggesting.

(Chris, I have a waterproof Olympus digital camera. Took great pictures in the pool and in the rain in Alaska last year! - Can check the model, if interested).
Jane & team, enjoy the new model D!
Have to go now, I have a huge backlog both at rowing and at work...
Happy rowing!

Calamity - I rowed an extra 6 minutes this morning and will pledge to row an extra 5 or 6 minutes on 9 more rows in the next 2 weeks. That should give an additional 14K toward the effort. But it's going to cost you..... I'll expect you to be signing up to row to go after a 10K PB on the next 100K team row that will be happening the end of August or early Sept... Oh and some tips from a old waterfowl hunter (I only could hit the oldest and slowest). You never bag much when sky blasting, especially with today's steel shot. You just make those high flying ducks fly faster, become more wary, and harder to get the next chance. Gotta wait until they are close enough to see their eyes before you go for the kill!
Chris and Dan - Looks like that shark missed the wave? Or was it surveilling to catch something else. Incredible shot!
Andrea - Welcome back! Hope you're refreshed and ready to face the world with recharged batteries!

rowing more
Jan's proposal of rowing a collective extra 200,000 in the next two weeks does give us more meters than a one day row of 200,000. Thank you Darryl for first pledge. I will pledge an extra 25,000 - maybe more if the model d shows up within the next 10 days. I have also recruited two more adults members who should be posting meters to the team in the next few days.
