The fewer the hurricanes, the better. Everytime one makes landfall between Virginia and Louisana, my Reserve unit gets put on alert to help out. Helping disaster victims: GREAT :D Time spent away from my 1-year old: Not so much

Best,
Eric

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 9.11.13

Post by Kona2 » September 12th, 2013, 10:59 am

Colorado seems to make the US national news frequently...and I am sure some will see our weather and flooding issues reported out today and tomorrow. We have a storm cell that is parked over us and just won't budge....and for a state that celebrates how many SUNNY days a year it has, we're still in the gray and gloomy section this week. There's a saying "god willing and the creek don't rise" that could be applied here....because the creeks are rising, dams are breaking, there are highway closures, and roadways are suddenly dropping away into fast moving streams. In fact, a roadway that I often take to play golf showed three vehicles floating - one upside down - this morning. All people inside vehicles were safe. The ground is saturated, and there's just no place for the water to go. Still, I am in a rainy, but not flooded, area. We are on flood watch for the next 24 hours with heavy rains continuing. For those who are interested, our local 9news.com does a live streaming video newscast several times a day. Good day to stay inside!

And thanks, Eric (and others!), for being one of the people we can count on to help out when natural disasters strike! We'll hope that you don't have to have too much time away from the bambino!

Day 3 of Flood Watch continues....send positive thoughts especially to our teammate Lily who lives in Boulder, where many roads are closed. Those who were trying to get to their homes yesterday were often unsuccessful. For perspective, we have received more rain in four days than we receive in a full year. Yikes!

I think we are starting to understand what a big process this is going to be to repair, rebuild in this state....once the waters recede. Many rivers, creeks are to hit their peak volumes today...and 1 -3 inches of more rain predicted. Scary stuff.

Season meters as of 135/365 = 34,200,580 m

Total meters on the day = 231,431 m

Thank you all for words of support. They are most appreciated, especially now. I know there are a lot of people suffering in Colorado and with all the pain and woe in the world, my troubles are nothing, but I have been going through a little string of bad luck. First there is the home repair project that keeps on growing, then our poor old dog took a bad fall and now I have to carry her up and down the stairs and on Wednesday I was involved in a traffic accident and totaled my truck :( The good news is that there were no injuries.
I've tried to keep up with the rowing, because that helps me maintain my sanity and being on this team helps me maintain my rowing.
Thank you :D
Da Do Ron Ron
that's three bad luck things, so now your luck should turn to good :} also sending dry thoughts to colorado...

Good grief, that reads like Buck Owens' "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all!" As Barbara notes, you're done with the "things happen in three" ... so, you should have smooth sailing, from now on. All the best, and give your dog a scratch behind the ears, from me.

Country Songs; Colorful Colorado

Yes, DDRR, but there's still prison, and the runaway father you never knew blues ... :)
Or, perhaps we should move on to hip hop; if your truck, and dog story feel too cliché.

I wonder what's the weather doing, Where the Columbines Grow? Staying inside and dry, K2?
(Colorful Colorado is from old CO license plates, yes?)

I am SO procrastinating ... the Dyson is just parked in the *** DELETE - SPAM ***, looking at me.
