Trolling for members

I' ve noticed a lot of teams with 1 member - perhaps we should send some of these lone rowers a message to check out our team?

Jan, Don't underestimate our team.... After I posted my meters today the Ergfit boat took some water !!! It was probably my sweat to make it happen...

It now looks like this:

9 LUNA-TICS virtual 38 11,019,808 289,995
10 Ergfit club_health 248 11,014,208 44,412

We are ahead again. Just now I have to leave the boat for two weeks. My employer has work for me to do in New York. So my call to the team. Keep up the good work and I hope we are still 9th when I return.

Peter,

Have a rewarding trip. Between Capt. K and Jan there will be no lack of inspiration, pleading, begging, threatening, cajoling, bargaining or blackmailing to keep the crew inline and in the boat with oars in the water. Just remember, all Lunatics, "The beatings will continue until morale improves".

Rowing Machines In New York

Post by Kona2 » July 24th, 2008, 4:19 pm

Peter - even better than inspiration or beatings, here is the link to a list of all the indoor rowers of the Concept 2 variety at public locations in the state of New York. http://www.concept2.com/us/interactive/rowerfinder.asp - maybe there will even be one in your own hotel. I didn't know what city in New York, so I queried the Concept2 database for all the cities in New York. The link directs you to input the appropriate city, etc. Have fun with it!

 Just in case you have time to row while on your trip!

Not until today  did I realize why DAN is at the top of our leader board,

He's our COX

In Darrell's immortal words....Uff Dah !!

So when he calls a Power 10, we'd better be ready.

Gina,

Thanks for the promotion. I found an interesting website with rowing lingo and definitions.

http://chrisabraham.com/2006/05/05/scul ... wikipedia/

If I am now the official Cox then there will be a Power 10 in 2. That's days not strokes.

Dan

PS: I love this stuff!

I am reminded of the marauding woodcocks and believe I should be very careful about this lingo.

Jan, No new personal best..... It was a good row, but I ended more than 200 meters short for that.
You've seen Marauding woodcocks recently?? I haven't seen or heard any kind of woodcock in my neck of the woods since this spring.

Dan, congratulations on your new position in the boat. True destiny within one's given name....

Tony that's a lot of gardens to take care of. At my house I do the veggie garden, and I try hard not to get arm-twisted into flower garden type work. That would cut into my paddling time.

Speaking of paddling: Today I got up early (played hooky from rowing), and drove to the southern edge of the BWCA to meet someone who had posted a note on a message board to see if anyone would like do a canoeing day trip with them from the Sawbill Lake campground. (I've done this kind of thing once or twice in the past.) Anyway I had a fine half day of paddling and portaging on Canadian shield lakes with a fine canoeist from the Twin Cities. I had a rare day in the wild with my solo canoe (I'm usually tandem) and showed the wind that I was the lead when dancing with my canoe, and I enjoyed the two miles of swamp paddling with picture plants, sundews, and orchids, and heard some loon music. And I never get enough of that. I posted a few pictures of the day at: http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2458 ... t=outdoors

Coxswain: The oar-less crew-member, who is responsible only for steering and race strategy...
... I dunno ...DAN may be "vocal," but he's certainly has him some oars ... look at all those meters.

If we're choosing virtual positions, I have dibs on the Gumboot seat: the gumboot is the rower who’s not strong enough to row in 5 seat ... but not technical enough to row in the stern.

Uff da indeed. (Darryl says there are no woodcocks on the west coast, so I'm not concerned about 'em.)

I am still evaluating. But an interim report would say it's interesting and helpful with form. I signed up for a training and coaching clinic, You have to answer a bunch of questions and then they produce a training schedule. For the first four days they have you working on form. I'm not sure what the rest of the training program looks like it only shows 5 days at a time.

Jan - I don't formally record paddling distances (or on water rowing distances when I was doing that) with the Concept logbook. However I have kept a paddling diary for the last four years or so. Yesterday's entry was a liesurely 6.5 miles at a moderate and very enjoyable pace. Along with about 1 mile of portaging it took just about 3 hours. Never came close to breaking a sweat. Darryl

Of course, now we'll really expect that you will be one of the people to represent us at the regional CRASH B's - - - - - no pressure, just reality!

crash b's

Post by Calamity » July 25th, 2008, 8:06 pm

I would like to row in the crash b's. earlier this year I had loosely planned my training schedule around them so that I could get experience competing, but the pass was closed the day of the event, so I could not drive over to Seattle. Yakima is 140 miles from Seattle and one has to drive through the cascade mountain range to get there.I am starting to through in a few more sprints into my training - not as many meters but still a workout! i will keep the team posted on PBs. Also, if I ever do set any records - ha ha - they could be counted with the new monitor. My PM1 does not count.

And yes, Jan is right, I have been wanting one for a long time. A friend on mine gave me a gold eagle coin - 1 oz of gold - 12 years ago with the instructions that I buy myself something nice. Now that gold is over nine hundred dollars an ounce, I choose to follow the instructions that came with the coin.

Anyone want to buy a model b??
