Jan,

Happy Birthday. Eat some of that virtual cake for since I'm still dieting.

Jan,

Not bronze, ceramic. The glaze gives it that metallic look . . . a happy accident!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.22.08

Post by Kona2 » July 23rd, 2008, 9:42 am

Thanks for the explanation re: new team page photo, AJ! Very cool!

Get the O2 out! We're heading for Mount Everest in our Row To Beijing! We've now contributed 252,578 challenge meters - and, as of yesterday, that number was about 0.8% of the total.

Season meters as of 84/365 = 10,877,094 m (reporting in this fashion makes me realize how fast this year is flying ....rowing by!)

Total meters on the day = 151,592 m

Oars in the water = 39 percent

MILESTONES:

700K Darryl

Orion

Post by Calamity » July 23rd, 2008, 12:18 pm

Yes - Orion is moving past people. Yesterday he looked at his picture in the rankings and wanted to move up the team ladder. He went and rowed 2210, and then needed only 2 more meters to move ahead. He went out and rowed more just so he could move up. Now he has a big gap for a seven year old to the next person 14,000m - but his ultimate goal is to catch Mommy.
I did not row yesterday - did not want to pass Jan on her birthday - hows that for a new excuse for not rowing?

Monday's row included another 500 m to cool down, so it was more than 30 m. My goal is 6500 in 30 min.

National Masters on water championships are coming to Long Beach, CA next month 8/14-17. I hope to go watch the finals.

I didn't row yesterday because I was busy cooking a gourmet meal for my hubby! Halibut with grilled eggplant and rissotto, salad of baby greens, and dessert - "Rumble from Down Under" - sensibly sized portions of the famous Outback dessert! Jan, I hope you had an equally outstanding meal!

Gina - who must row 45 min today to contain the damage caused by the rumble.

RE: Meters and Dinners

Post by Kona2 » July 23rd, 2008, 3:33 pm

You guys are too funny - go ahead and pass me! I'll catch you in the flip (non-bicycling) season! Although, I am feeling somewhat competitive.....I did actually row on the b-day: 100 meters for each year. And nothing fancy at my house for dinner - it was Hebrew National 97% fat free hot dogs on the grill, baked beanies and potato salad - followed by ice cream cake from DQ. The halibut sounds really good though! I will actually be doing the dinner celebration part on this Sunday.

Sorry to miss the birthday celebration yesterday. Happy Birthday late anyways!

Tried the New Grip gloves/pads for the first time today, and really like them. I'll never go back to regular gloves again. I did not find the wrist straps to be in the way or annoying at all, but then I kept them pretty loose so as not to really feel them.

An excellent recommendation for an excellent product.

Jan,

We have 11 flower gardens. This is not counting what we have next to the house, three sides of the garage and a few other places. Of the 11 gardens my favorite is one we refer to as the forest garden. I cleared an area 15 to 20 feet wide into the woods, made a u-turn and come back out about 200 feet later.
