Re: WEC Challenge...Uff Da!

I guess I should have picked up on the fact that you're Norwegian by your last name, but I didn't put it together until I saw the "Uff Da" in the subject line. I grew up in South Dakota, where people say it all the time, but I live in Texas now, and if I let an "Uff Da" slip out everyone looks at me like I'm a lunatic (which I guess I am!)

Re: WEC Challenge...Uff Da!
Alas, I am only an honorary Norwegian! I first heard "Uff Da" many years ago from another student (he had attended St Olaf's College in Minnesota). We were leaving a final exam and that "Uff Da" was heartfelt as we turned in those blue books. Flash forward to this team forum....and another group of Minnesotans. I believe Duluth Moose introduced us to the term, but it was Minnie's posting of the sumo wrestler than forever burned it into our memories.sarahaddams wrote:Kona2-

Uff da is such a good exclamation! I think it is our duty as Luna-Tics to spread the use of the phrase....

March Madness....continues....
The 5K Honor Board threatens to fall below the 1000 mark...and the 10K just slid beneath the 400 participant level....2500 m is holding steady at 22 visible. HANG ON !
Mad Hatter: “Why is a raven like a writing-desk?”
“Have you guessed the riddle yet?” the Hatter said, turning to Alice again.
“No, I give it up,” Alice replied: “What’s the answer?”

It is absolutely the best to see teammates starting to ramp up their meters. A steady pattern of 10K, 10K, throw in a 15K, and then pop up with a half marathon here and there...and you have a terrific training plan....could it be for a Global Marathon Challenge??? Good job, Rebecca!
Season meters as of 324/365 = 135,273,491 m
Total meters on the day = 668,242 m
Oars in space (participation) = 34 percent

Welcome back for another rowing season to Ally M. of Seaside!
All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.22.13
Whoa. Denver hosted a World Cup Soccer game yesterday...in what some would call a blizzard (we call it heavy snow). Yes, players were forced to deal with ankle deep snow by end of game. At every stoppage, shovelers ran out onto the field to clear the lines. Team USA was playing Costa Rica (a team with a surprising number of Scandinavians)...and while conditions for both teams were the same, trying to keep the game playable was epic. Springtime in the Rockies. Still snowing. In fact, might find myself shoveling soon since this is a heavy snow that snowblowers won't handle well....
March Mudness Mudpies !!
In Mudness Progress Board land, the 10K and 2500 m groups are holding pretty steady in participation. The 5K group has slid off the 1000 member mark and now ranks in the 980s. Hooboy! It is not easy to meet the requirements for staying alive during this Challenge! The discipline of the moment is something we all struggle with from time to time. Whether you earn your certificate for this Challenge by rowing 25 days in March or not, it's great to give it a go!
The dynamic duo of eight year olds Zachary and Alex R continue to rock the rowing meters for the team. Another mega-meter update appeared today...WITH a new team profile update for each of them. "Who's your daddy?!" the Zombies sang as a memorable lyric in Time of the Season....Yep, these two are rowing some good distances and getting some great exercise on daddy's rower...and tormenting this astrogator who seeks to discover the unknown. Still, the eyes are a giveaway, and maybe the tattoo art is as well....we'll figure this out...
Season meters as of 325/365 = 136,323,585 m
Total meters on the day = 1,092,191 m

Thank you one and all. The whole idea is pretty cool that Concept2 actually gives swag for doing meters. I've tried to be faithful about rowing, but sometimes I do slack off a bit.
With the weather here lately it's been pretty easy to stay inside and put on some meters.

Thanks for sharing your story, Brian M! That's the kind of "real data" that really matters to teammates with similar goals - and everyone likes a story with a good ending! And how many can relate to how difficult that last 10 lbs is to reach...and keep off? A continuous battle.
Today's stats tell the story of SEVERAL teammates who are stretching out those meter distances. I'm seeing a few more half marathons here and there, and it's not just because we have a team challenge going on at the moment either. Next thing will be a run on memory foam cushion sized to fit the erg seat....
