We need to figure out what the caloric intake is for one of these pies and calculate how many meters you have to row to burn it off!

Image March Madness....mad about pi(e)...

Image

There it was...larger than life on the virtual page....a grape pie looking like it was just fresh out of the oven within the hour. Fortunately, we are in the midst of several rowing Challenges, and we can indulge our new pie cravings and GO GET PIE...or bake pie...or get someone else to bake pie. Birthday pies often trump birthday cakes in my house - with apple and cherry being the two that get requested most often. And, thanks to Peter, I finally understand that since I was born on Pi Approximation Day, it was foretold that pie would be a favorite. More of life's mysteries solved...and thanks for the recipe.

Image Image And we're off and rowing and/or ski erging! Day 1 of 32

For those who are considering giving the Global Marathon Challenge a go, this is the time to start extending those rowing distances (and how convenient that there is a Team Challenge right now to benefit from those extra meters!). Speaking of marathons, the 2013 Boston Marathon is going to be held on 15 April, the last day of our World Erg Challenge. We can all cheer teammate bg onward across the finish line ONCE AGAIN as she runs with her RUN FOR RESEARCH team. You can visit Barbara's personal page at the following link if you wish. http://go.liverfoundation.org/site/TR/R ... fr_id=3260 Not positive how many Bostons she already has completed (8 might be a memorable number?) - what an experience! She'll have completed her marathon a good two weeks before our marathon challenge timeframe even begins.

After missing the significance of Richard T's ImageImageImageImageImage m representing March 13, 2013 instead of just a palindrome, I've been on the lookout for more twists and turns and leprechaun actions...and sure enough, we have another good one today.

March turns muddy

Post by Kona2 » March 15th, 2013, 2:12 pm

Image Say it isn't so..... March Madness just became Mud Season Madness....AS IF March Madness hasn't been part of basketball frenzy forever....let's hope that Concept2 can do a little better on naming this one. So much for shamrocks and pots of gold...

Stay tuned - am asking Concept2 if we can have a contest to rename the March Madness ....

Just checking in. Would like to congratulate everyone on their achievements and to send out good luck for both the rest of March Madness Challenge as well as the WEC that's just starting up (did actually remember to join that already). Wishing best of luck, safe, and happy rowing for everyone.

A note: Overcoming Disabilities has resumed its year round affiliation as well as having a Challenge team. While I hope that current teammates will "play out" until the end of the rowing season, people do what they need to do. Good rowing to all.

Sorry. No graphics today, although there were some very fun opportunities.

Correction. I wasn't saving anything. That wonderful distance was simply a typo. When I entered my cool down meters yesterday, I must not have completely erased all the digits in the meters box from the harder part of my workout. So my 1014 meter cool down turned into 51014. I did not do 50k plus yesterday, just a little over 6k. I corrected my error in C2 today when I went to enter this morning's workout, so my numbers should be back to normal.

Thanks Jan for being cognizant of the irregularity in my meters!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Image St Urho

Some years ago, one of our team members from Minnesota introduced us to St Urho. St Urho's Day is March 16th, so even though you might not have known you were celebrating his day, you were (especially if you enjoyed any wine on that day).

The legend of St. Urho says he chased the grasshoppers out of ancient Finland, thus saving the grape crop and the jobs of Finnish vineyard workers. This did not involve actual grasshopper herding, or pesticide spraying, nor new organic vineyard methodology. Apparently, the fellow yelled "Grasshopper, grasshopper, go to hell." This technique does not work on everything. Recent publications, however, indicate that the grasshopper population in Finland is thriving....

Image Happy St Pat's Day indeed!

ImageImage And Happy 41st Anniversary to teammates AJ and Chris T - wowzer! Here's wishing you many, MANY more!

Image Mud Season Madness:

Oh how the numbers dwindle and yet the madness continues! Just 1305 on the 5K boards this AM, and 609 on the 10K, and 27 on the 2500 m board. Alas, I'm not on the 10K anymore...but still hanging in there at the 5K level. Sometimes it just works out that way - one challenge you can really spend the time and effort, and the next one might be a lot less. We are in the WEC mode right now, so it's great if everyone can add a bit more to their rowing sessions!
