Wow ... the gloves are coming off, now!

I'm rooting undecided ... Muddy Feet like the Romans (husband) ... or ... Water Taxi for Marines (father) ...

Yes, an excellent movie, DDRR (especially now that it's been restored) but ... they have made some good war movies since all those oldies mentioned, above, doncha know!

Yes, Jodi, it sure is. And here is "The Rock" we have sitting on our front porch. I'm behind by a few days here, but had to post it.
Goooo, Army! Hooo-ah!

Indeed, they certainly have. I clearly remember watching this movie every day for a month prior to entering Basic Training and memorizing every line:

I tend to think that this movie set the bar for what war movies should be in the modern era, though

Indeed, they certainly have. I clearly remember watching this movie every day for a month prior to entering Basic Training and memorizing every line: FULL METAL JACKET
Wow, I don't think I've ever seen FULL METAL JACKET. In my mind, it had morphed into PLATOON. However, I'm good with APOCALYPSE NOW, and DEER HUNTER ... so, FMJ is now in my queue!

Sorry, people, I don't mean to take off at a gallop, with movies ... but, they're what I do while I row, so there is kind of a segue ...

All In A Couple Days of ERGing: Team Progress Thru 2.8.13

Post by Kona2 » February 9th, 2013, 2:17 pm

Welcome to new teammates Alex R and Zachary R!

Image Time to get your heart pumping! Get on the ERG! Earn that Valentine!

Yep, and February isn't just about Valentines and chocolates! Here in the US, February is American Heart Month - bringing awareness that heart disease is a leading cause of death for men and women here. The Center for Disease Control features an article on Heart Health this month, and talks about how to approach the journey to better heart health with a four part plan that fits our approach to rowing to the moon:

They say:

Don't become overwhelmed.
Don't go it alone. The journey is more fun when you have company.
Don't get discouraged.
Reward yourself.

Several of our teammates have noted that rowing helped create better chances for staying alive on a lot of different levels. And all these rowing challenges are sure giving us an opportunity to get regular exercise!

Image Woohoo for Bruce T - he's completed the first week of the SkiErg Challenge (a challenge that also runs Feb 1 - 28). Way to skierg!

Image Many of our teammates are deployed right now - and so we report out on this Challenge. Navy still leading.

Representing Army: AJ, Danno, Andrei, Eric, Kristine, Mike M
Representing Navy: Richard, william b
Royal Navy: Ian M

Used to be that AJ would work on Sudoku puzzles while rowing (in between movies). I think he's traded in that Sudoku puzzle holder for a clip that holds a sketch pad! (PS - I tried to find the picture that AJ posted a few years ago that showed this clip mechanism, but failed.) Rowing all those meters PLUS designing a new class of graphics boats...the military inflatable boat (available with paddle at 200K). Looks like he's leaving an option to put some kind of outboard motor on this thing....

ImageImageImage ImageImageImage .. and Navy's leading Army...

Season meters as of 283/365 = 107,762,817 m

Total meters on the days = 740,975 m

Oars in space (participation) = 34 percent

You get a sweatshirt? Seriously? How does that work? Do these free gifts expire when you go past the mark? If that's the case, then I'll just have to wait until 15.
