Thanks for the info. How does that go? The enemy of your enemy is your friend. Thanks for the support against the Rays.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.10.08

Post by Kona2 » July 11th, 2008, 10:48 am

It's Tour de France season - something new to watch while you're rowing!
For 23 days in July, there is a stampede of bicycles throughout France and sometimes neighboring countries. High drama! Here's what the jerseys stand for:
Image

Season meters as of 71/365 = 9,514,178 m

Total meters on the day = 183,748 m (thanks to Lilia joining the team!)

Oars in the water = 35 percent

Row to Beijing: yesterday we passed through Reykjavik, Iceland and over one of the new natural wonders of the world (Surtsey, Iceland is a volcanic island 20 mi south of Iceland) on our way to Windsor, England! We have contributed 116,287 challenge meters (over ONE million team meters) to this effort!

MILESTONES:

Half Marathon - Dan

ONE Million Meter Watch:

Chris with (20,344 m) to go! Clever girl - she's left herself a half marathon to finish in style!

And thanks to today's rowers:

Lilia 59,456 m (multiple days posted as one to join team)
Dan 22,213 m
Mitch 20,129 m (were you going for a half marathon? So close!)
Kristine 14,839 m
Chris 12,000 m
Rodrigo 9,306 m
Peter G 9,000 m
Tony 7,777 m :D
Peter H 7,727 m
Steven 7,129 m
Jane 6,000 m
Barbara 5,035 m
Andrea 3,138 m

Oh, no pressure, m'am!? (We're under a "don't breathe" alert in the Sacramento Valley today ... it's the Book of Revelations ... smoke, fire, and heat ... so I have an excellent excuse if I don't rise to your not-so-subtle meters challenge this evening!)

Welcome back, Keith. Is that the same fish as last season?

Hi and welcome, Lilia. With a genuine Luna on board, this ongoing Moon Mission seems somehow less Quixotic! Happy rowing.

Happy Birthday Dan!

I am too ;) the 13th...
I thought that Jan is too, but just saw the post that she's part of the powerful Leos. Nice group!

Welcome back Keith and welcome Lilia! All meters for the team are good!
Not all of us are champs like Dan, Barb, Chris, AJ, and others at the top of the list - though they help us all move along faster :)!

I hope the skies clean up soon for you Chris!
And they do not smoke up again for anybody...

Happy rowing!

NICE! (Cheers, Steven ... one more gasp of that great North County ocean air, and before the next COASTER roars by ... you're in the Lucky 777? happy-face Vegas zone!)

Thanks for the smoke-free vibes, Andrea. I imagine you're getting your share of spare-the-air days, also.

Send Me Your Birthdates

Post by Kona2 » July 11th, 2008, 8:55 pm

I've asked everyone on the team to share their birth date with me - because I was certain that we would have enough people on the team to support the 90 percent or so chance that we would have two people in this random group with the same birth date. Well, six people into the "ask" - we have a match!
(This is fun stuff for us stats people!) (Good classroom fun for those with kids, too.)

Chris and Barbara share the same birth date.

By the way, I'm still looking to hear from everyone what their birth date is - we'll put these on the spreadsheet (and see if we have additional matches since maybe we are more looney and less random).

I must have missed that request....sorry.
My birthday is March 13th....born on a Friday!
And gave birth to my son on March 13th....not Friday though, and many years ago. He gets to celebrate the day, but I get the week...if not more.

Hello from a Luna

Post by lunabibliofila » July 11th, 2008, 11:08 pm

Hello Everyone !

I'm Lilia Luna, Peter H's wife. After coaxing from him, I finally accepted to join the boat. Although I've rowed a total of 4 weeks, I feel I really started rowing 2 weeks ago, under Peter's supervision.

My first row was at the Crash-B arena in Boston this year. The warm up area of course. I had to guard the rower while Peter was stretching... and so I fell in love.

I'm very excited about joining this team, thank you for the warm welcome !

Hasta la proxima !

Luna
