Image Day 15 or 16 of 31.....halfway point !

Wowzer, mates! We have canoes and canoes with oars all over the rowing universe! This is exciting stuff ! So many teammates are within just a FEW meters of claiming their canoes and making that first 100K milestone. We have several teammates who are well on their way to the hot tub that awaits at the end of the Challenge (the bathtub award of 500K), and even MORE who are using this Challenge as a great way to get ready for some additional goals (like that FULL marathon). Whatever your personal goals in this Challenge, hope you are having a lot of FUN and are anticipating the next canoe caricature as much as I am. The ArMOONda is truly a fine fleet.

Meanwhile, pondering how Buckaroo Banzai morphed into Wicked!, a tale of the Good Witch Glinda and the Not So Well Perceived Elphaba, Wicked Witch of the West. Perhaps Dana is feeling a bit "green" after getting that oar...cheer up! The sea sickness subsides as the meters go on! :lol:

Image Tis time, tis time! When the virtual clock strikes midnight ET, the team rosters are locked...and we'd love to be able to put all our teammates who want to row with us into a canoe. So sign on....sign on....sign on!

Yes, happy birthday AJ and thanks for the hugely motivational art! Keeps me rowing on some days when not much else will. Hope you are having a great day!

Had to take a day off today, a bit under the weather, hope everyone out there is starting to feel better....

Take care of yourself, Captain K :!: I hope you recover and get your canoe. This will be the first challenge I've missed since joining the Luna-Tics-I know how frustrating it can be :cry: , but your health comes first :D

Thanks, Ron, for the kind encouragement. I finally went to the doctor, and got a script for antibiotics, as it ended up needing that. Just finished my last pill yesterday, and am waiting for a full recovery - hopefully it is not too late.

Four half moons in the skies of our rowing Universe...bg, Fabio, Anita (half marathon) and Christa (half marathon). Not only were the skies brighter with all these moons, there was a big cloud of positrons over Vermont as Ron hopped back on the erg ... and tried not to row too much using the best techniques. Add in canoes, canoes with oars and a bunch of teammates pushing themselves to get more more more meters....and we had a great day.

In one of yesterday's postings, pondered how Buckaroo Banzai had morphed into Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. Enlightened now that one of the songs in the musical Wicked is "Defying Gravity", which is certainly something this virtual spaceship filled with ergs tries to do. :D Still, the lyrics are good ones about breaking free of things that can hold you down. This is always a good thing, too. The author of Wicked is a fellow named Maguire, and it is said that he formulated the name "Elphaba" out of L Frank Baum's (the author of Wizard of Oz) name, taking the phonetic pronunciation of his initials: so L.F.B. became El-pha-ba. And now you know.

Hi Everyone;

I've never actually introduced myself to the Team, so now seemed like a good time :D I came to rowing about 4-months ago or so after I discovered that it was about the machine in the entire gym that didn't hurt the already damage cartilage in my knee (the result of some overly zealous barefoot trail running). In that time, though, I have totally fallen head over heels for the erg and this forum and the online log. I am especially drawn to the longer distances and just completed my first 30k this week (on one of two ergs in a YMCA :D )

Anywho, I joined this team because it seemed like the most support and fun one of the all teams here. Looking forward to getting to know everyone more.

Regards,
Eric (aka, Boog)
