Antler Glow! Even More Lights !!

Post by Kona2 » December 14th, 2012, 12:28 pm

Image Wowzer, mates! Another teammate has made it to the 200K milestone in the Holiday Challenge!

Hooyah! Amidst the dazzle of the Geminid meteor shower, another set of festive lights was added to skies over Arkansas! The Geminids are pretty speedy...hard to predict where they are going to be "flying." No worries there for Gen Lafayette....he's mapped out all the flight routes!

Congratulations, General Lafayette (aka Brian M) on earning $ 6.03 in Concept2 donations thus far and earning your antler lights, and the coveted Holiday Challenge pin !! Way to row !!

Ever notice how this time of year life can be a blurrrrrrr? And that's not from drinking reindeer eggnog either! Still, blue sky days abound - almost as plentiful as the number of reindeer currently enrolled in Reindeer Flight School ! We have 55 reindeer, and have just exceeded the $ 300 milestone in Concept2 donations. Great rowing by all !

And for those who are chomping at the reindeer bit to join in, yet can't right now, there's always a role for everyone. We may be cheering each other on from the reindeer sidelines, but we're still part of the celebration. :D Heal well, everyone! The long term goal of getting / staying healthy is the one to focus on. Lots of Challenges throughout the year (and some of them usually have nothing to do with rowing... ).

Team welcome to Eric A from Madison, AL....he's working on getting that reindeer ! We wish you many good rowing sessions and lots of camaraderie!

Well, we all know that Lightning flashes in the sky....and Adam's reindeer is no exception. Flashing antler lights to match Lightning flashes in the sky....why not?!

Congratulations, Lightning (aka Adam) on earning $ 6.40 in Concept2 donations thus far and earning your antler lights, and the coveted Holiday Challenge pin !! Way to row !!

More Swagger !!

Post by Kona2 » December 15th, 2012, 12:10 pm

Image Whoa...I think Swagger Fever is starting to sweep through the reindeer herd. Danno just exceeded the 400 K milestone in the Holiday Challenge, and IMMEDIATELY was struck by Swagger Fever. Yep, the tail wagging was started !

By the way....some info about the astronomy kind of comet tail: thanks to Windows to the Universe:

The Comet Tail

A comet generally has two tails, not one. One tail is due to the comet's dust particles, the other is due to ionized gas from the comet coma.
Dust particles form the first tail. This comet tail generally points back along the comet path (so if the comet is traveling right, the dust tail extends to the left).

Ions (electrically charged particles), which first come from the nucleus as (neutral) gaseous particles, are swept into the second comet tail. Because of the special interaction with the Sun's magnetic field, this tail always points directly away from the Sun.

Way to row, Danno! Your reindeer, Comet, has earned a bit of swagger to his reindeer walk!

Been enjoying the forum(s) for six+ years now and finally, a profile pic. A true technophobe, I did what I do with all things pertaining to my cell phone, laptop, desktop, and television remote. I asked my thirteen year old daughter to do it for me. Five keystrokes later, done! Awkward....

Image Wowzer, mates! Another teammate has made it to the 200K milestone in the Holiday Challenge!

Since Rosi freed her reindeer in the traditional names countdown of Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Comet, Vixen, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen....we didn't talk too much about Mazatlan. Turns out that Mazatlan is a nahtual word meaning "place of deer." How appropriate that we should have some reindeer there ! Mazatlan is considered one of Mexico's 13 man-made wonders due to its importance as a large port, and its unparalleled beaches.

Congratulations, Vixen (aka Rosita) on earning $ 8.10 in Concept2 donations thus far and earning your antler lights, and the coveted Holiday Challenge pin !! Way to row !!

Teresa's reindeer, Olympus, earned those antler lights just in time. Looks like there's "weather" coming in, and there's going to be some snow and foggy conditions! Can never have too many lights...especially with all these reindeer flying about!
