Hi from Germany,

please let me introduce to you as a new team-member. My name is Andreas, I am 50 years old, married father of five children (17 to 5), and I work and live in the beautyful capital of bavaria, Munich.

I startet rowing more than 20 years ago, when I worked for one year in the UK. I learned rowing at Star Club Bedford, but back in Germany I had neither opportunity nor time to keep this sport up. In 2013 my oldest daughter startet rowing at school, so I decided to give it a new try and joined the Munich Rowing Club at the Starnberger See. Since then I row (all summer season and sometimes in winter) every week in a 4 or 8, both sculls and oars.

On my 50th birthday I bought a C2 and since then I managed almost daily to do one short workout in the morning (20-25 min, 5-6km) to improve fitness, reduce my tummy and get more strength for the boat. Over the last five month I rowed >500,000m indoor with continuous improvement of my times. I participated at the sceleton and holliday challenge, but now I am looking for a team for the virtual team challenge. I hope I can contribute positively to your team and look forward to being a part of timbukTWO.

Best wishes from Munich,

Andreas

Hello, Andreas!

Welcome to Team TimbukTWO! It's great to have you rowing with us for the VTC.
Feel free to set a goal for the whole challenge or I'll set meter markers for you.

Thanks for introducing yourself. It's nice to know who's on the boat with us.

Welcome aboard, Andreas! We are glad to have you rowing with us!

Please consider joining our Affiliation TimbukTOO (which is different from the team TimbukTWO). The two teams are the same, but different, if that makes any sense! One team is for the challenges, and one team is for the day-in, day-out rowing that we all do.

And on a side note, I recently found out that one of my great-great grandmothers was from Bavaria, coming to America in the late 1800s.

Welcome Andreas! Yes, please join us for the team challenges and also, as Jim said, to our affiliation for day-to-day postings (or monthly/ yearly postings ....in some cases; life has its ups and downs for all of us). It is really quite amazing what fellowship occurs in this humble little site, with support to all for whatever offerings we choose to share.

All the best,
Heather.

Hey all,

Just stopping in to give a quick introduction. I'm Bob and am from Enon Ohio which is just east of Dayton. I'm almost 52 with two kids 17 and 15 that keep my wife and I very busy.
I have been a runner for a long time and with a hip issue for the second time in the past year decided that I needed a different aerobic activity that doesn't require the pounding that running does to break things up a bit. With that I purchased my C2 in October. I have rowed in the past, about 30 years ago but never seriously and have to admit that rowing is much more of a challenge than I thought it was going to be but I have enjoyed it so far.
I'm still trying to balance out the running and rowing but have so far been getting over 100k meters a month in and have completed the last two challenges. My technique is getting better, I think, as my times are improving as I go along but there is a lot of room for improvement. I have an eye on a HM at some point in the near future, not sure if I'm ready to do it in January quite yet but I may give it a try, it won't be pretty.........
I'm looking forward to the Virtual Team Challenge, I think I signed up correctly, and rowing along with everyone.

Made my last 15k of this year on water with 70 club-mates on the Lake Starnberg. 1°C, but no wind and some sunny moments with short views of the alps and the Zugspitze (in the center, hidden by me)! Afterwards white saussage, brezel and beer at the clubhouse. There's no better way to finish the rowing year :D

Happy New Year's Eve!

The Virtual Team Challenge has begun.
Team TimbukTWO is on the board
Brandon N - the first to post meters (I checked before going to sleep)
Daniel D
Team TimbukTOO's own Warren F

I hope to start VTC posting meter updates tomorrow. Right now, when I click on Team TimbukTWO, individuals are not listed and I can't sort by team on the Individuals list. I'm hoping the prod move for that change is tonight.

I just noticed that we had a big jump in Holiday meters since the challenge ended last week.
I'll post the final numbers and the Honor Boards next week.

TimbukTOOers who are Cross Training like John B or cross training by running/rowing or biking/rowing - we are always happy to hear from you!
Also, those who are nursing injuries - we hope you are feeling better soon (I injured my back or my hip - lol! i'm not sure what's up - i think I'm going to try to row today)

The Holiday lbs have attacked my attempts to be a lightweight rower - time to fight back.
I think i'll set my VTC goal at 100k. (I'm going to be away part of this month)

Team TimbukTOO finished 2015 strong - here's to a Hearty and Healthy rowing year in 2016!
Keep rowing!

Virtual Team Challenge

Welcome back, Team TimbukTWO teammates! Glad to see you back.

So far, Team TimbukTWO has 26 team signups.
As Stephen M reminded us, you are not entered into the VTC automatically. Go to the Team Page of your Logbook, under Virtual Team Challenge, click Join Team Challenge.
If you are on a different team for the VTC - we are still cheering for you - just not on this board.

Here are the team meters so far:

Warren F 6,500 18500 m to 25,000 26%

Monica D passed 25k (already!)

Does this make sense? Aside from some missing commas, do you like it? It seemed to work for the Holiday Challenge?

If you have set a goal, I have listed your goal.
If you have not set a goal, I'm putting up the normal meter markers that we track.

We are on our way! Keep rowing!
