Yes, I've tried in the past to keep up but THEY get daily massages and physio, their meals are all prepared and they just generally get pampered (not to mention being athletes at the top of their form), so even though I try to row longer each day, I take my rest days when I need them. By the end of the tour I might be back up to 30 k/session which with a bit of luck I'll be able to keep up through August in time for the September challenge, but without the great motivator of the race, I slouch off. Heather, I liked your reference to the Giro in a previous post and I was thinking of rowing each day that the TDF riders are on their bikes. Then my husband told me that there are only 2 rest days so I'm not so sure I can keep that up.
