TimbukTOO Team Room
Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Hi Angela,
I thought about it, but I doubt if I will. Plan on using father's day as a goof off day.

I'm hoping for the rebirth. We have a good group and I hope things will fall into place for us soon.Quatroux wrote:I figure we're done or waiting for a rebirth.

Congratulations on the 2 million, Jack!
I hit 2 million last season but it had taken me 7 seasons for the first million and 7 million for the second million (I had given my rower away for 6 years and got it back last year - I will never do that again). I'm hoping to get to 3 million this season.
I also hope the team stays together. The team's posts inspired me to keep rowing last season. I'm now thinking of taking an on water Learn to Row class next month.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Here's to the rebirth: I think we're all going to have to blow our own horns and add our news instead of planning to do it and waiting for everyone else to post. I know I frequently check to see what others have been up to... That said, it's great to see you back David; I'll keep the top spot warm for you for now, but no rush
. I know it's only temporary; I'm not letting it go to my head or anything
I just want to get rid of this #$%^ fat. Enough's enough!
An added incentive is that I'm about 500 k short of 15 million meters and I'm not going to claim the prize of the shorts and t-shirt until I fit the small size again!
I'm actually quite proud of what's been happening in my rowing: in May I started rowing while watching the Giro d'Italia bike race and I noticed over the four week period that my times were starting to cluster around the 25 minute mark for 5k (~2:30 min / 500 m). For me, this is a considerable improvement from 26'30" which is what I've been achieving...without paying the slightest regard to times. I just want the weight loss from the 2 hours + rowing I do each session. And lo and behold, now my times are frequently coming within 25 minutes (as in 24' 52", but still, it' shows that I'm getting stronger and/or that my technique is more consistent). Come July and Le Tour de France, I'll be getting back to doing 25 - 30 K per session (i.e. ~ 3 hours), so the time factor is likely to go out the window, so I'll enjoy the feeling while it lasts.
All the best to everyone.
Heather

Thank you very much, Angela; brave you to step forward to do this. Hopefully we'll all get a bit more lively as the season progresses. All the best,
Heather
Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Angela, that's great. I'm sure you will do just fine. It would help if some of the rest of us stepped up with at least a little friendly banter and encouraging posts.
Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Well, I know I need to drop 5 to 10 lbs by September for my employer's wellness exam. We get medical insurance credits if our BMI is below a certain number, and if our blood pressure is below a certain number. They used to give us credit if our cholesterol was below a certain number, but last year they stopped that, for some reason. It's kind of like medical underwriting (which is illegal in our state) except that instead of punishing you for being unhealthy, they reward you for being healthy. So, this time of year I try to lose all the weight I gained over the winter. Much harder the older I get! ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

Bang up job! Angela! Glad so many of us want to keep TimbukTOO going. I am on board and am gonna keep a steady stroke. Off to a slow rowing start this season, but my cross training is still going strong. I hope to hit a million meters this season and am looking forward to team challenges. Angela if I can help at all sharing the load and effort let me know. Thanks for showing some initiative! Let's get this boat moving forward team!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Ain't that the truth. Got close to my weight goal last November, retired in December and spent the next four months undoing it all. Getting back on track now and it sure seems harder than the last time.CONLEJM wrote:So, this time of year I try to lose all the weight I gained over the winter. Much harder the older I get!
