That is still a world class time for a guy your age- and with tendonitis no less.
Congrats!
I just checked, & that time (6:49.4) would've been 8th (of 41), 5th (of 22) & 6th (of 34) Place at the last 3 CRASH-B's, the "Worlds" of Indoor Rowing.
Also, I went through my history on the C2 website, and the last time I broke 6:50 was 3 years ago at the same race (Cincinnati Indoor Rowing Championships) when I did a 6:46 for 2nd Place to Eric Wuerfel.
I broke 6;50 only 5 time that season (2012), and 5 times the previous season (2011). Of the five sub-6:50's in 2011, four were also sub-6:45's, including my PB of 6:42.3, and my CRASH-B time of 6:42.5.
So, this is only my 11th sub-6:50 row lifetime.
(Yeah, I know 5 seconds doesn't sound like much. 5 seconds of a 420-second race is only a little over 1% faster. But, it's one of the wonderful peculiarities of rowing that that 1.2% increase in speed actually requires 4% more energy per minute! A 7:00 2K requires 302 watts of power per minute, a 6:55 requires 314W, a 6:50 requires 325W & a 6:45 needs 338W. So, the 3.6% speed increase of those 15 seconds requires 11.9% more watts of energy! That's a much greater capacity to use oxygen, to produce muscular contractions, etc.)
Boston's registration is closed, so I guess I'll need to wait 'til next year...
