Woohoo and hooyah! Congratulations, everyone, on achieving a 25 million meter rowing season! Here's wishing everyone many, MANY more! Thanks to all for every contribution to the team meter bank - it all counts!

ImageTHANKS to Da Doo Ron Ron for all the excellent stats work and keeping us on course towards the moon, and giving all the shout outs for the milestones, and new and returning teammates. Our journey is long and made much better by the excellent company our teammates provide.

ImageImageImage Captured the numbers early this AM, and had great plans to get the posting done sooner....

We're no longer seeing the glow of fires on the mountains at night, but many wildfires are still burning in our state and in other western states. More than 700 families have lost homes in the last two weeks due to one fire or another, and many say that there is a sense of disbelief that all of this has really happened. Communities are pulling together as best they can to help those who are suddenly homeless. A few days ago, there were 32,000 people evacuated from homes in the Colorado Springs area. There was not a hotel room available in the southern part of Denver, and in the areas between Denver and Colorado Springs. People who were staying with friends and family in many cases are finding that what looked like a short term visit, might turn into months. Not easy to get by in this world without helping each other I think.

Season meters as of 59/365 = 25,079,948 m

Total meters on the day = 255,599 m

Oars in space (participation) = 30 percent

As Ron knows from some of the disaster relief work in Vermont recently, there is always a lot of need. I've sent you a PM with some links.

Whoooosh! That's the sound of all these ergs ....and the month of June flying off the calendar! And time for an erg maintenance reminder (for those using a Concept2 in a gym, you can always ask them to clean and lube the erg chains! ):

Every 50 hours of use (weekly for institutional users)

■Clean and lubricate the chain with Concept2 Chain Oil (a purified mineral oil), 20W motor oil, or 3-in-1 Oil. Use 1 teaspoon of oil on a paper towel, and rub the paper towel along entire length of chain. Wipe off the excess. Repeat if needed.
■Inspect the chain for stiff links. If thorough lubrication does not help, the chain should be replaced.

Btw, the manuals available on the Concept2 website for all the different erg models are quite amazing. Lots of photos to show you how to make adjustments, perform maintenance tasks, etc.

Season meters as of 60/365 = 25,519,027 m

Total meters on the day = 439,079 m

Just rowed my first single-workout half-marathon this afternoon. It took me forever, but who cares... I did it. Now I officially declare tomorrow a non-rowing day!

Tomsevo - Congratulations! I know the feeling, wasn't sure my backend was going to take it. Does not matter the time, it matters that you did it. Good luck with your goals.

Janet wants a new washing machine. :o

Here are some photos from the weekend's Tough Bloke Challenge...TomO made me sprint between some of the obstacles (okay - I was trying to keep up with him! )

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 95f72e4ad8

And I came across the following quote the other day, penned by the American author Helen Keller (quite a remarkable person!). It was written up in a climbing text I was reading, so I’m possibly talking my book here...

“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all”.
