Some of the team likes Toads - here is Akira with a garden friend. The toads in our yard get to ride on swings and get taken down slides, etc. Our elementary school's mascot is a frog and there is an annual frog jumping competition. Oh yeah, and there are cusses followed by time outs when the toads are brought into the house.[/quote]

love the photo......and welcome and welcome back to all the new folks....and thanks for all the atta girls....i couldn't do it without your support...and being retired and having the time helps too :}

Way to Row bg :!: CONGRATULATIONS B)
I fell way behind you there. Two days in wool in almost 90 degree weather sort of kicked me in the butt :? And two nights sleeping on the ground aggravated my sciatica :( Is that enough whining? :lol: Yesterday I gave blood. Finally, today, I'm back. I was having some serious endorphin withdrawal :shock:
Ron
PS Congratulations Nataliya on being a weekly winner!
thanks again everyone...and congrats nataliya....and ouch ron....please be careful...i'm sure i'll be rowing in your and other folks dust soon.....and k2...how are doing with the fires????

Congrats on your million meter season, Barbara ... so early in the rowing year. You're also looking particularly lovely, on top of the team's affiliation podium. Being retired and having the time does help, sure, but you've still got to get out there and (thank you, Nike) "just do it!" Good on ya!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 6.19.12

Post by Kona2 » June 20th, 2012, 11:48 pm

Goodness gracious....great balls of fire! Sometime in the late 50s, one of the early rock n roll pioneers named Jerry Lee Lewis had a fine song "Great Balls of Fire!" Of course, Goose and Maverick's performance of this in the movie Top Gun was not to be missed.

Today, Colorado had several kinds of great balls of fire going on...with a meteor streaking across the sky near Colorado Springs (and the site of yet another wildfire). The calls to dispatch relayed that great balls of fire were seen in the sky...like space junk...only I think NASA said...no, not man made. The meteor caused planes to be grounded in the area for about 90 minutes, so no air support to the Lake George fire. Meanwhile, the High Park fire continues to burn. It's at 65,000 acres - fast approaching our largest fire ever. It has moved north of here, and has consumed about 200 homes. One thing that really renews faith in people is that every evening about 8:30 pm, people line the road outside of Laporte, Colorado - a really small town that is used as a base for firefighters for the High Park fire. These folks are holding up signs and cheering as the firefighters come in for shift changes - and they just want them to know how much their efforts and risk taking means to them. And to say thank you.

Welcome Summmmmr of 2013 rowing season....hope to see a lot of Lunie names on the Honor Board tomorrow (alas, mine will not be one of them). Welcome to the 2013 season to Keith S and Laurie P - good to see some returning faces on the team roster!

Season meters as of 50/365 = 21,149,144 m

Total meters on the day = 460,180 m
