All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 4.5.12

Post by Kona2 » April 6th, 2012, 2:02 pm

Hooboy! With a mere 26 rowing days remaining in this 2012 season, I continue to be astounded at the tremendous efforts and consistency that teammates exhibit throughout the year ... and the strong finishers ! Many individuals have had to overcome a lot during the year, and it is quite humbling to see how they have managed difficulties that might break other people. There is always a lot to learn about life with this rowing.

I do hope that you continue to dodge the worst of those "wicked bad" (love y'all's whimsical New England descriptors!) germs that come home from school. AJ and I have certainly noticed a spike in said germs, since the PGB started pre-school.

I've missed a couple of days this week. Lyn brought home another little present from school in the form of a wicked bad cold that can morph into a nasty case of bronchitis :( She has been out for 4 days, which for her is an incredible amount of time. Luckily she has over 90 sick days accumlated and she had 5 days of sub plans already to go.
I seem to have dodged the worst of it and I rowed yesterday and today, but my legs fell kind of rubbery :?
I see some awesome rowing has taken place in my absence :!: Luna-Tics Rock :!:
Ron

sending lyn healthy/healing thoughts....will she have a vacation week in april like ma does???

And adding my congrats to David A and Richard T! Great work (and lots of it!) both of you. B)

Healing thoughts your way Ron... especially for Lyn.

A 4S day here today (Superb Sunny Sydney Saturday)! Who needs summer when we get days like this in Autumn/Fall! :D
Enjoy the weekend everyone, and of course enjoy Easter and all that it brings.

Something else that we have in common, other than our birthday ... my friend's daughter questioned if I knew that her name was actually Amanda and not Amander. I still have trouble making people understand if I'm talking about the vicar (pastor) or spaghetti (pasta). You'd think that would be fairly obvious, but, still.

You all ready for the 16th?

I was talking with Lyn about the regional speech patterns. She said one expression she never heard until she came to VT was "door yard". This is what a lot of Vermonters call the front yard.
Both of Lyn's parents grew up near Boston. They often dropped the r from words and would substitute an el for the le at the end of words. I remember the first time Lyn's Father offered me a "tonic". I thought he was offering me a Gin and Tonic, but what he was offering was a soda
Ron
Here in my part of Maine, we use "door yard" as well. I have heard that it's not something people know about in other parts of the country though. I've always called soda just that, though I've also heard it commonly called "pop", especially by my Canadian friends :D As I get older it seems as though I pick up more on the "Maine" accent, can only imagine what I'll be like in another 20-30 years

Hooyah! In the rowing universe, there's a pretty short list of rowers who have completed ONE million meters in a Concept2 challenge...and now Walter's name is on that list. Completing a million meters in a challenge is a big deal - doing this in 21 days ...in-cred-ible! Congratulations, Walter! We wish you many more millions!

And....deciding he might as well make it a two for one (although, it might be a hat trick or a trifecta with a full marathon or something like that), he's also scored his second million meters of the rowing season.... more incredible !

Looks like it was another 55K day for Walter - which makes this a red giant - and that's a definite hat trick to row a red giant to complete the one million meter challenge, AND cross the line of a 2 million meter season.

ImageImageImage Image

Woohoo and hooyah! Congratulations, Walter, on achieving a TWO million meter rowing season! We wish you many, MANY more!!
