Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Congrats Baz on another 2 million meter season! Keep up the amazing rowing.
Jaybird- how many other kids knew the words to all Peter, Paul, and Mary, John Denver, and Gordon Lightfoot songs?
Brayden and Dalton rejoined the team last night. Gonna try and pull Mario's load. The million meter rower is moving back to the Chicago area leaving Gramps with a heavy heart.

Rats, Jim! We will all miss him. Let's hope that Mario finds a rowing machine in the Chicago area that he can use. Many of the YMCA's have them, and some of the schools. And...Welcome back to Dalton and Batman Brayden.

I love that song, though I can only remember the first verse, now. (There are 20 verses? Who knew!) The high school drama kids did that for their fall pay, a number of years ago. It was haunting. (And ancient history, for them.)jay wrote:Trying for a 36 K day as a tribute to the Edmund Fitzgerald loss on 11/10/1975. ... Actually about 14 years ago we went to a Nursing home to entertain and while he was singing the 20 verses or so, most of the residents fell asleep.

Thanks for the Hoorays folks!!Kona2 wrote:
Woohoo and hooyah! Congratulations, Baz, on achieving a TWO million meter season! We wish you many, MANY more (and a few more Speight's competitions, too).
I’m finding it a bit tricky balancing the training regime, but I must say the Concept Rower provides fantastic cross-training, general, and specific conditioning. I’m about to swing over into some sprint training over the next month – as they say, if you want to go fast, you have to train fast...Actually out to Penrith White Water Kayak course on Sunday for some upside down kayaking
Good weekend to all...Cheers BBB

PM3 corrosion question
I was planning on getting a nice row in this morning for Veteran's Day (my father passed away this year and he was retired Navy, my husband and I met while in the Air Force in Japan, and I have a son in the Coast Guard, and daughter who was an Army nurse and is now in Germany while her husband is in Afghanistan. So I thought it was fitting to go the distance on a day like today), but when I got out to my gym my PM3 wouldn't work. I took the battaries out and it had green corrosion on the contacts which I had to sand off and clean out. I got it working again, but has anyone else had this problem? I suspect it's because my gym is out in our workshop and the temps really vary out there during the summer and winter. Over 100 during the summer months and down below freezing in the winter. It was 46 degrees when I started rowing this morning, which would have actually been comfortable for a longer row.
Since my workout time was cut short I did 8 sets of those 30 second all-out rows with 30 seconds rest. Boy are those butt kickers! Do they really help your stamina?

Wowzer...I'd say that you and your family have gone the distance in serving! Thank you, and all our veterans !
RE: The PM3 batteries - seems like we have had several teammates who have different issues with the battery, but I thought that it was more of a replacement issue. One resource is to call Concept2 directly - their manufacturing team is really good about working with you to diagnose issues and answer questions. 800-245-5676 in the US.
RE: Speed work....personally, I am of the Turtle Class and could only offer up theory. Fortunately, we have many rabbits who can answer whether or not the interval training works (and I am sure they will say that that butt-kicking routine is a great conditioner). And maybe Baz will explain his thoughts about the breathing during this kind of workout, too ...because that still mystifies me.
Another episode...
Woohoo! It's a triple whammy....it's a triple convergence..... The number 11 is the sixth prime number in our universal language of mathematics. On the more mystical side, or at least the numerology side, some say that the number 11 is a number of illumination and enlightenment (particularly during times of the full moon....like now). It's associated with intuition, inspiration, blinding flashes of the obvious, and new beginnings.
And clearly this series of ones appealed to many - some who might be celebrating Veterans' Day and some who just like repeater numbers! Hope it's a lucky day for all ! 70 MM....it's on the horizon !
