I didn't know this, but the Space Shuttle was equipped with a rowing machine on some missions to help astronauts keep fit!

From NASA: "Two rower ergometers were developed to provide Space Shuttle crewmembers with an exercise alternative to the treadmill and ergometer. The rowers were the final element in the suite of Extended Duration Orbiter Medical Project (EDOMP) exercise hardware and were designed to be quiet and effective, while requiring minimal stowage space and electrical power."
Wow! Sometimes I space out while rowing too!

Thanks for asking about the back thing. It is not holding up. Last time I had this much pain, I had surgery. I can't go through that again. It took six months before I could work again, and I cannot afford six months of no pay, or disability of 100 bucks a week. I can row, if I watch my form closely.

Go slow and get the rest you need to heal. I re-injured my disk in May caused by doing too much too soon.
If your injury involves disk tear ( the annulus )- it can take a long time to heal-- but it is always better to avoiud back surgery- good luck with it.

From Calvin & Hobbes:
I let my mind wander, and it didn't come back.

We start week two of masters indoor rowing tonight. Getting ready for a race in February. I might sabotage the race by switching to low carb after Christmas. I do it then a suck at an indoor race or do it later and suck at a real race OTW.

Wow! I put in actual meters today! Ribs are still painful doing moderate and strenuous stuff, but I did some easy rowing and it wasn't too bad. There is hope. :)

Ahoy, mates!! Cap'n has been taken hostage by evil pirates!! He dropped a message overboard in an empty grog bottle, and I managed to retrieve it... He sends his apologies that he hasn't been able to post this week, as his computers have all gotten a case of scurvy! He promises to flog himself with a cat-o-nine-tails when he returns aboard though... 20 lashes!!

I will post the weeks numbers, but won't be adding commentary.
