50Plus - New Team
Re: 50Plus - New Team
Is there a FB group for our team?
Re: 50Plus - New Team
Hi timh1461,
I don't think there is an FB group page for our crew. But that would be a much more efficient way to communicate and motivate.
Apologies to everyone for my slacking off during this challenge. I'm trying to improve my power on the C2 and so doing shorter & more intense workouts. Am contributing my meters though.
Champion effort to everyone. Maintain the rage team 50+

If any of you are 59 or over then you are welcome to come and join ours.
We're a facebook group for people from many different clubs, we come together as over 60's to talk rowing so all good age-related fun. We have a team too but that's a facility for those that were not already in one when they joined the group or want to change or be in more than one for different challenges;

Re: 50Plus - New Team
ho ho neighbors... i have just joined the team and the january challenge.
as a bit of a background i used to erg a few years ago and then partially tore my bicep tendon which stopped me for a while. just as i was getting back into erging we had covid happen which again stopped me. fast forward 2 years and i am now older/ heavier/super unfit and depressed. while couch surfing i saw an add for a local marathon so got off my butt and signed up. but only to walk it. and its in May so time to get some training in. started out walking and enjoying that and finaly made the decision to get back to the gym.
last night was my first session at the gym and it went like this
1.5km walk to the gym
10km on the cycle
2370m on the erg completed as 10 x 1 min with 30r
selection of weights on machines but generally low weight high rep stuff as i dont want to damage my arm again
walk 1.5km home
i havent erged for over 2 years so a bit on the low meter side and will be working my way up to longer rows
Im from New Zealand and currently 58 although that changes each year for some reason

Re: 50Plus - New Team
Hi all
I damaged the radial nerve in my right arm in the summer so no rowing from June till Xmas, now slowly getting back into it with a slow 5k every other day to ease back in without aggravating injuries. Hows has everyone been?
Stay safe.

Hello all, I started rowing just a couple months ago and am hooked! Joined this team in time to help out with the World Erg Challenge, which started yesterday, I think.

Re: 50Plus - New Team
Hi guys,
first of all I wanted to apologise for not being active over the last year or so. Due to personal reasons I've not been able to train on the concept and have not logged in until today. I set the team up with great intentions but life got in the way!!
I am hoping to get on the rower today for the first time in ages and do 10 minutes (if I last that long) but as I'm not likely to be very active over the next few months if there's anyone who would like to take over the captaincy of the team please let me know. I think I can transfer!
It's great to see how the team has grown to over 100 members now! We are only 40k shy of reaching 5 million in the current challenge with 36 members contributing - fantastic.
Once again apologies for the silence.
Warnie.

Re: 50Plus - New Team
Hi everyone, just joined the team. Used to row on here a lot about 10 years ago until I had an Achilles injury.
Trying to manage my weight at 59. Mixing up rowing, walking and Peloton to prevent injury. Keeping to 5ks mostly to see how I do.

Welcome to the team Sparky. I'm on my 3rd month back rowing now after injury so good to have you on board.
Re: 50Plus - New Team
Hi, mind if I join in?
Have been rowing 3-4 times a week, but lost focus this year - hoping the Fall Team Challenge might be the motivation that I need...

Very welcome Phil, the more the merrier. I lost focus due to a long injury and then personal stuff so good to be back on the erg. Hope you have a good time with the Team Challlenge
Re: 50Plus - New Team
Day 3 of The Fall Challenge.
The Team is currently in 32nd place with 274,050m
23 Members have signed up
11,915m Average per person.
Anyone fancy giving this a go and see if we can move up the leaderboard? All welcome, do as little (or as much) as you like!!

Re: 50Plus - New Team
I just joined! Now what??
I usually row 1 or 2 times a week, and I run or walk other days. I am looking to up my rowing game, maybe work up to a half marathon. Would love to hear from some of you. How is communication done in this team?

Re: 50Plus - New Team
Hi all, just turned 50 in early September so just joining this team now ahead of the Fall Challenge.
After a VERY slow start to the year, I have a goal to hit 2m metres this season (mostly doing very aerobic HR-capped longer rows) so anything that keeps me motivated and getting me in the stirrups is a good thing.

Re: 50Plus - New Team
welcome, I've not been as active as I'd have liked in the forum of late due to work but I am hoping to do more this season - I've just hit 2m for the current season so training is going well at least!!lflanigan wrote: ↑September 11th, 2024, 11:37 pmHi all, just turned 50 in early September so just joining this team now ahead of the Fall Challenge.
