The Fall Challenge has begun! I have some military travel coming up next week that will limit my participation. My goal is to row 200K for the challenge.

I don’t know if anyone checks this board anymore. We only need 30k meters to pass 5M for the season.

Good morning! A lot of water has passed under the bridge since my last post. On June 30th I retired from the US Army after 29 years and 9 months of service. I intend to stay fit and row my meters for our team. The next team challenge begins September 15th. My goal is to work all summer to get into the best shape of my life at 61 years of age. Let's go!!

Thank you for your service, Padre!

Funny, I remember you mentioned that the RowErg can be used as a substitute for running in the Military Personal Fitness Test. I recently looked into the USMC PFT to see how I would score, and for someone over the age of 51 (namely, me), rowing a 5K in 20:00 or less gets you a perfect 100 for that portion of the test. Then one has to do a Plank and some Pull-Ups (or Push-Ups, but with a penalty). I believe a combined score of 235 puts you in the top tier (or first class).

Like you, I like to stay fit, and it is good to have some objective tests to measure oneself by.

Thanks again, and congratulations!

I just signed up for the Fall Team Challenge 9/15-10/15. Hopefully we can field a strong team! I'm trying to do the daily workout (along with an additional workout) to get 45-60 minutes in the bank. 10K a day keeps the undertaker away!
