Near Granby, CO

Winter skies are often great opportunities for stargazing - even though it is cold, the clarity is pretty amazing. You can faintly see the Milky Way in this phone photo. I always encourage people to look UP when they are outside at night - many don't get these kinds of views of our skies! I wasn't present for this photo opportunity - the distance is just a little too far for knee comfort at this point. Getting better every day!

A day off from school, even if it's a windy kind of cold day, is a day off of school ! The most Colorado thing I saw today was three young high schoolers on horseback...in the grocery store parking lot. They rode their calm beasts right down the parking rows, and onto the sidewalk in front of the store...where one of them hopped off and put all the empty cups into the trash bin. Back on the horses, they kept on going! I liked it.

February still ticking along, but time to look ahead to what's around the bend since you'll need to be doing some calendar adjusting to get all these days into the mix. Be careful how you spend the FEW days that you have as get off the erg free cards, because there are only 6. When you burn one of them, make sure it's worthy. Meanwhile, plan on earning a shamrock for your 5K and a pot of gold for your 10K during March!
