And Flyers turn to concoct the bitter pill for August CTC as per Joe Heaton in recent comp subforum post. Start thinking about sweet revenge.
It has been a while, so was happy to see that. I suspect we might get pushed a month later because one of the new teams responded to Joe's usual offer to jump the queue, but he hasn't acknowledged it yet. Even more time to get creative!
And yes, Rick, I need that nudge to stop leaving the CTC to the last minute

Short thread with linked demo video on race starts. Has been up since 7 May but still relevant to execution of the current CTC HIIT challenge as well to 2k comps at live venues.

For those who missed it on the
Endurance rowing thread, Elizabeth had a fun weekend knocking out a 100km in a blistering 7:42:33! As someone who hasn't made it past a marathon on the erg, and can still remember how rough those felt, I continue to be in awe of anyone who gets to that milestone.
Well done, Elizabeth! And glad to see you already did the CTC in case you never feel like getting back on the rower again

Wow! Amazing pace, Elizabeth! What an accomplishment. That's something I'll never attempt.

WOW! As Gymbeau says, something that I'll never try. Way to go Elizabeth!

Super endurance effort, Elizabeth
How does Paul Smith’s Law stand up to the scale of this marathon x 2 doubling and change?

Thank you!! And thanks to everyone!
Jack, Paul's law did not hold up. I was able to mainly maintain a faster pace than predicted on the actual rowing part, but I took multiple breaks that had a big impact on the overall pace. And I really needed those breaks - I'm okay with one quick one for a marathon row but needed disproportionately more.
I am glad I got the CTC challenge in before the century row. I'm feeling back to normal with most things but am still not up to normal deadlift weights, so I'm not sure if sprinting is the best idea yet. I have a feeling that I have room to improve on this month's challenge, especially if I played more with drag factor, but I'm going to call it good.

2:18.7 av. 10’ faster on elapsed than the Liverpudlian? And you’re not a distance specialist.

Thank you, Jack!
The June CTC is posted and it's much more in my comfort zone than all those sprints were:
"Team Diamonds have chosen a straight forward 5k with no restrictions. Plain and simple."
I'm looking forward to tackling this one and ranking a 5k for the new season.

Well done, team! Seven boats floated and no-one left stranded for the 2nd month in a row. I'm glad I managed to shift some boxes and clutter off the rower and get a score on the board last weekend.

I've just realised I am on a boat in the may c2ctc
I got suddenly ill, was admitted to hospital early December and was in hospital & rehab until May. Lost 9 kg and all my muscles, back up 5 now. First time back on the rower was early April; 1k in 6:45, now down to 5:22. Long way to go but I try help float boats again. Not sure though I can row 5k. Hopefully by the end of the month

Glad to see you back in a boat for the May CTC. I had been wondering where you had been. Sorry to hear about your illness but glad to hear that you are recovering. Best wishes.

Welcome back, Sabrina. Glad to hear you're on the mend.
For now, do what you can with what you've got. I'm sure better days are ahead.
