Whoooooosh! That's the sound of you and your erg(s) flying through yet ANOTHER month!!

Not only have we entered another month, we've entered the season of monsters, vampires, CANDY (erg more), and all things purple, black and orange. Some of you may remember Ray Bradbury's The October Country....used to read those horror stories in October and scare myself.

From danwho:

Image We're 13th...about a 200K gap to 12th...!

There are two goal levels for the Challenge: 100 K and 200 K (see, they're ALREADY trying to get our minds wrapped around the Holiday Challenge distances!). Right now, 22 of our 92 teammates have eclipsed the 100 K milestone, and 6 have passed the 200 K milestone. That's some hours spent on the erg for sure! Fear not, though, there are still 15 days to get it done. Every meter counts, big and small amounts all good. If you've signed up to participate, please contribute some meters!

Thanks to our FTC Challenge team for putting up great numbers every day! Here's some FTC team milestones:

[size=150]400 K Robin

I'm having issues embedding a screenshot, so here is a link instead https://imgur.com/a/ZIYODFh (for those who do not trust links, very wise in my opinion, it is just a screenshot of my log showing I did manage a palindrome yesterday, 7,777,777 lifetime metres!).

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to take a break from rowing from 21 October, my left hip has become so painful I can no longer postpone the inevitable, and have to have it replaced. My physio had told me to keep off the rower to avoid further damage, but there is no need any more, and suprisingly after the first 5 minutes or so the clicking stops and I feel pain free (until the end of the row, anyway). If that was all I could live with it, but I'm limping a lot of the time, so best to get it over and done with. I know what to expect, I had the other one done in 2010. So I should be able to complete the Fall Team Challenge, but count me out of the Skeleton Crew. I do hope to be back for the Virtual Team Challenge though...
Woo Hoo!
Cool lifetime meters. B)
Good luck with the surgery and recovery.

Just getting back into rowing after recovery from hand surgery and Tropical Storm Ida decides to dump 8.5 inches of water into our basement apartment! We tried to stop it with every towel in the house as it came pouring in through the sides of the door, but they were no match against the force of the water pushing against the door as the drain couldn't handle the deluge. It was so strong that it even broke the door knob lock off of the door jamb! We tried to get everything up off the floor but it all happened so fast. We're working on cleanup now, and here's the kicker; homeowners insurance doesn't cover it because the water came in from the outside drain! And we don't live in a flood zone and don't have flood insurance, so why would we?
I'm hoping there isn't water damage to my rower. The water only reached the lower part of the chain and left a layer of dirt all over it after it receded. I rowed this morning and it seemed okay. I'm going to reoil the chain as soon as I can find the box that I put my oil in. :?

Oy! :o
I'm sorry about all the challenges you are having. :(
Good luck on your recovery, and your basement's recovery.
Hope to be able see meters from you soon.

Norma, well done and congratulations...

A beautiful Spring day in the Harbour City, we just need to get out of lockdown so we can move about and enjoy it.

For those unaware, greater Sydney which is a large area with a population somewhere around 5 million has been subject to 'stay at home orders' due to COVID for the past 3 months (give or take a few days). Which means only leaving home for essential work, otherwise work from home, or supplies and only up to 5 kilometres from your home unless an essential worker. Hopefully that will change in another week...!

In the meantime, our football Grand Final tonight (rugby league), go the Penrith Panthers. Cheers, Baz

Image Approaching lunar surface!!

Our current lunar journey started on May 1, 2019. It takes 384,000,000 m per trip to reach the lunar surface. We earned 144 MM in the 2020 season, and we earned 188 MM in the 2021 season. That left us with a total of 52 MM to reach the lunar surface. It's so very close now that we can see the craters very well... we have 1.4 MM to go! So. I'm guessing Wednesday - Thursday will be the 5th Lunar Landing...buckle up, Lunies!

Image 13th...

The gap is a little bigger today. We could change that.

FTC Milestones:

450 K Robin
300 K Jeff F

Image Approaching lunar surface!!

Touchdown in 806,797 m....

Will it be today? Will it be tomorrow? Whose meters will propel us to lightly touch the surface?! Inquiring minds...

Meanwhile, the Fall Challenge Team is keeping the Lunies in the hunt at 13th. This seems like a very scary Octoberish kind of number. With 12 days (including today) to go, top ten seems a long shot, but stranger things have happened! We try our best! The Ancients have hop skipped over the mERGmaids and are sitting in spot 11 now...the gap between us remains the same-ish. However, there are some clear opportunities here! Perhaps as we pursue landing we can take care of more than one goal?
Gimme.
