Re: Forum Flyers
Voorhees crew have all rowed in this month's challenge. My oldest son Kyle has a 6 second lead on my younger son Josh. I am half-second behind Josh, and Linda is happily floating in boat.
I rowed again today, trying to close the gap. But could only match my first row. I guess when you are giving max effort, that is all there is...but hard to believe I could not find another half-second to push Josh (at least temporarily) into 3rd. Ugh.
Josh will be rowing again. He was traveling and rowed in a gym with a mask; and did so before seeing Kyle's time. So it will be interesting to see if he can catch his brother without a mask and with a specific time to beat...or die trying.

First sculling lesson in a single! It was a struggle to get my hands and arms coordinated. Just found it really difficult to get both sides and hands and arms to go where they were supposed to go, I just kept overthinking everything and forgetting how to move. But got a few good strokes in there, which I'm sure will be forgotten by the time I go out again

Re: Forum Flyers
What a challenge! About 83 things to have to think about at the same time. But well worth the effort to try. I've been sculling now for a bit over 2 years and still have a long way to go, but I'm never inclined to give it up in frustration. Stick with it; it gets better.skkipper wrote: ↑August 24th, 2021, 1:33 amFirst sculling lesson in a single! It was a struggle to get my hands and arms coordinated. Great effort, and you stayed dry It is difficult to think-it-over, everything is the opposite to what the brain is telling you: lift your hands to put the blades in the water, tap down to take them out, etc; but it does become organised after a while. Relaxed concentration is requiredYankeerunner wrote: ↑August 24th, 2021, 9:29 amWhat a challenge! About 83 things to have to think about at the same time. But well worth the effort to try. I have sculled and rowed for a decade or so, and can count the number of really wonderful mornings of single sculling on one hand - they were exquisitely worth all the mediocre and average efforts that intervened them. Haven't been in a boat for 20 months - that may soon change

My older son Kyle rowed again...shaved off another 7 seconds, with I think puts it out of reach. My younger son Josh is going to give it one more try tomorrow. I am facing reality, and admitting defeat...although also very much love watching the sibling rivalry

My younger son Josh rowed again...closed the gap by 11 seconds, but still fell 9 tenths of second behind his brother. He was ahead until the last 100M where he lost one full second. I believe they have now sufficiently tuckered themselves out for the monthMarcvo17 wrote: ↑August 25th, 2021, 10:41 pmMy older son Kyle rowed again...shaved off another 7 seconds, with I think puts it out of reach. Re: Forum Flyers
Woohoo! Dog Days of Summer Challenge finished up yesterday - with 19 Flyers completing it. Congratulations to all that finished.
Now that it is finished, we need two more rowers (of any type) to do the August CTC to get Boat VII off the dock.
Anna Rae
P.S. I am glad at did the CTC at the beginning of August because I sure don't have anything left in me today and don't plan to go back on the erg until September.

Re: Forum Flyers
Well done Anna Rae and fellow Flyers!
I've only just got back to either of the ergs since doing the CTC at the end of July, but definitely will fit in a shot at this month's CTC before the end of the month.
