It was a year ago today my Concept 2 was delivered after a nearly 3 month wait. In the winter and cold weather I'm erging in the back study. Any other time finds me under the carport. I've been trying to do 7,000 meters daily for the Dog Days Challenge. Checking my lifetime meters I needed to do another 3,000 meters to push past the 1 million meter mark!! Life is good!!!

Whoop, whoop, and way to break in your rower! Congratulations, Jamie (aka Brickman), on reaching an erg odometer milestone! With your overall lifetime meters at 9.6 MM and change, you'll be earning that TEN million lifetime meter status really soon! We wish you many, MANY more milestones and celebrations!

In case you are wondering about suddenly sporadic posting, I have a lot of family in town this week - and, surprisingly (really!), it has turned into more of an extended family reunion time! You never know how much your late twenty somethings are going to want to "hang" with the family, but they all seem to have decided to do some hikes, and then congregate here in the evenings. My father-in-law passed from COVID thirteen months ago, and we are only just now able to have the memorial service and inurnment. Grand Lake Cemetery (which is actually located on Rocky Mountain National Park land) was under fire seige at this time last year, and we could not do these things. So. It's been somewhat more chaotic and out of schedule sync, and I thank you for your understanding and patience with postings. Memorial service was yesterday, and tomorrow most will trek up into the Grand Lake area for the other portion of the ceremony the following day. I am learning that if you think something will take a couple hours, it might take 8. Yikes!

Dog Days of Summmmrrr Challenge! The final week!

Kona, you should never apologize for having a personal life - especially when it means you're spending time with family. I'm glad you were able to have the ceremony and then go on the hike - even if it took a lot longer than expected!

Sunday I planned to erg a 1/2 maraton to cover half the needed meters for the last week of the Dog days Cahllenge in one day. On long ergs like this I'll pull up Cameron Buchan "Yam Squad" Youtubes as they are long, steady state work-outs at stroke rates that are good to concentrat on on form and technique as you erg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xInMVSl ... eronBuchan

This kind of workout I usually reserve for the Winter Challenge to build up meters. It is always such a milestoe to me when the remaining meters drop from 10,000 to 9,999. I have my concept 2 under the carport so it is outside yet protected from the elements. It is set up with a little table in front for the laptop and a small speaker is to the side. For this erg i had my water bottle and Britta pitcher for refills.

Image

I hate to admit this erg beat me up more than usual. After cooliong off I checked the temperatures. It was 90° with a heat index of 104°. that explains a lot!! Be careful in the heat!!

Nice work on the half marathon! The temps sound unbearable. Did you end up dehydrated?
