Sheena, thanks for all the research on the C2 race app. In Chicago, we switch to DST on Sunday morning. You did say 10am EST for the 14th, so would that be 10am DST in Chicago on the 14th--sorry, old and confused. I may participate if possible.
Also a long delayed "GreatJob!" on the Virtual Team Challenge.
Wow, I completely forgot the time change would be screwing us up on Sunday. I really really hate the time change! I wish we could just stay on DST or halfway in between or something please anything except what we are doing now 😳. Now that I think about it, the Doodle poll was not showing the 2am time slot on Sunday and I gave up trying to figure out why- it’s because there is no 2am thanks to the time change whoops.

Okay, so if we say March 14 at 3pm GMT, that should be 11am EDT, correct??

I believe you're right. In the States, we change to DST March 14; GMT changes to DST March 28. So, if I'm available, I'm aiming at 11am EDT (10am CDT)--if the ergrace app works for me.

Yeah, I wish they'd leave our clocks alone.

While they don't I find https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html is the most useful tool for this. Pick a couple of cities and a date and it gives you the "time zone pain" chart.

Did my first race ever, but no opponents showed up for my time. Posted a 3:36.2 for the 1k sprint.
Not sure if i'll have time to improve that as i have a 107mile indoor Zwift ride on Saturday and will be trashed after that. Good luck everyone doing the sprint!

Good luck! Sounds like you're doing the Full PRL? I'm leaving that badge until the absolute end, and hoping to have dropped 20kg by then :).

I don't have a smartphone so can't do the interactive 1K race. I uploaded today's 1K time trial anyway and managed to sneak it under 3:30 so I'm pleased with that.

I've signed up for the World Erg challenge but I don't do long distances on the rower so won't be a big contributor. The 6K for the cross team challenge was plenty long enough for me. Not sure I can summon up the enthusiasm to do 10K for the other challenges. I'm in awe of members who can knock out hours of erging every week.
Nice time there!

On the team challenge, every metre is useful, so stick to what works for you, and leave some of the others to fill in the blanks with what works for them :).

I expect more of mine to come from the BikeErg again. Either way I still find the team challenges useful for getting me to do a session when I might have a lazy day that I want to skip.

For those not on Facebook we had a "fun" 1km race on Thursday with Sheena, Suzanne and myself (and 2 other non-team members). I wasn't feeling up to pushing hard, but the minute I saw Sheena racing away at the beginning, I abandoned all plans to cruise and started chasing her down.

I hadn't realised Suzanne was ahead of her until I moved up a place, so there was a another carrot to chase. She had too much power over the last quarter, and I had nothing left to try pull my usual end sprint out of the bag, and she took it by 0.5 seconds.

I had grand plans to join today's session, but I don't expect to beat my 3:48, and also don't feel like putting myself through that again.

The racing app worked well though, and added a nice bit of motivation to get the 1km done.

Good work Dave. How fast does your internet need to be for this software to work? I live Wales where the internet speed up until a few years ago was 0.33 mb/s in our village!

I tried the ergrace app today, 3/14 at 10am CDT (11am EDT) and was the only entrant in the race. Using the app the first time was a bit confusing. I don't know if the app worked correctly or not, but I managed a 1k in 3:37.7, and it posted in my logbook.

I was entered in the race, but my PM never really connected, so I left to not mess it up for others. I saw 4 people were entered, but then in then it was only you left James. Seems I’m not the only one with issues.
I did a 1k as well. 9 seconds faster than last year and I’m about 4kg lighter.

Oh no! I did not see anyone on there so I got lazy and did not race. Sorry to leave you alone! But great job, I would not have come close

I have no clue what internet speeds are required, but I imagine it would be very important for the racing aspect to function. Sabrina mentioned on the FB post that she had a message about internet not being fast enough, so I think you would just have to test it out and see :?

Thanks for the info, I’m a member of the FB group but I’m not very active on there.

Good efforts everyone, especially those who actually raced yesterday, and didn't run away like me!

Freddie - as suggested it's worth doing one of their test rows to see if your internet connection is OK. It's not just the speed, but also the latency, so mobile networks might not perform as well as a slower-looking ADSL or fibre line.

On different software for the virtual British champs I was getting warnings about not having a perfect connection, but it was fine in the end. On this ErgRace app I was showing full or nearly full bars on the connection indicator, even though latency might start being an issue given my distance from where the servers might be.

For my next test I might see whether an iPad works, because the screen on my phone is too small to see the participant names clearly (but that's also age being against me :) ).
