Re: Forum Flyers
81 reporting meters to affiliation standings! That’s reporting meters rather than signing up and goose egging or 100m for auld lang syne. Unusual.

I'd be on the board already, but I completely callously (yeah, that's a little sarcasm) put in a tough 16k total workout on Monday, the day before the challenge started. It was my fifth day in a row either rowing or bike riding for a workout, so I took a rest day yesterday. I'm planning to start today's workout with the 5K time trial for the cross-team challenge, so there'll be at least one more posting some Flyer meters!jackarabit wrote: ↑September 16th, 2020, 1:19 pm81 reporting meters to affiliation standings! Re: Forum Flyers
I understand rest days falling on the start date of the FTC. I do not understand “affiliates,” whatever that word may mean or once meant, who are mia or from action year after year? Is that a way to emphasise that one is inactive, indisposed, incarcerated, or deceased? Maybe Dave knows?
I didn’t make clear that I am pleasantly surprised by current level of participation in Flyers affiliation yearly standings. Not a problem for new members, just a strange historical niggle in the C2 ergosphere.

Hi Flyers,
Happy to say I posted up with 14,700 meters for the team today -- including a new PB on the 5K for the Cross-Team Challenge! I hit 18:48.0, knocking 7.5 seconds off my previous PB in the 5,000. Keep rowing, team!

Re: Forum Flyers
The affiliation has been around probably since logbooks started (pre-dated my 2003 start). It was the first attempt at creating a team setup, but then the introduction of the Teams section for challenges caused some confusion. Would make sense at some stage to remove the confusion and just make it a single item for someone to choose.jackarabit wrote: ↑September 16th, 2020, 2:19 pmI understand rest days falling on the start date of the FTC. I'll do some marketing at some point to the people who have chosen us as an affiliation but haven't found their way to the challenges or the forum thread. It has also interested me that we seem to have so many additional names there, but maybe some people just don't feel like signing up for challenges, but are happy that their logbook metres are going to a good cause.
Given our brand seems to be about welcoming all types of people, we're obviously not going to complain about that .

Re: Forum Flyers
Welcome! Good to have new blood in the team, and it will be great if the Fall Challenge enthusiasm keeps going into the other team challenges.
When you're ready please add some additional info for the team's benefit - name, rough age, where are are in the world, and whatever other interesting facts you feel like sharing on a public forum (or not!).
Dave

I have placed my age and my location in my profile. I also added my name to my signature.
Thank you

Re: Forum Flyers
I agree that disambiguation of the team/affiliation distinction is a waste of wind! I see no reason that consolidation of rosters would cause anyone a problem. Why would someone who desires to have their challenge meters made public resist seeing their progress in daily training also in public view. Affiliation Standings is simply a sort from annual meterboard results, is it not?Slothful1 wrote: ↑September 17th, 2020, 2:27 amThe affiliation has been around probably since logbooks started (pre-dated my 2003 start).
