CTC 5k posted. First attempt at this distance in many years - 2:24.0
This was a trial run and I was very cautious to see what happens with my back when I apply some pressure. It went better than expected; my pace and stroke rate were all over the place as I tested and prodded my back, but I have a much better feel for what’s possible. Ready for several more runs in the coming weeks.

Fantastic! I just posted my second attempt and shaved :30 seconds off (yay!). It's going to be a long journey to sub-20 for me, but I know the health benefits are worth it. My long awaited erg arrived this week and I've joined the team with the Fall Team Challenge in mind. I'm planning on contributing many metres, over innumerable hours, at a laughably slow pace.
I'm 52, a LW on a good day, and yet another wine lover. I'm hoping the erg will get me fit and earn me the occasional carb. If my technique and fitness improve significantly, I might start training to compete.

Nice work on the CTC guys. Multiple attempts are the way to go, if you feel you are trying out pacing options, etc. Having said that, I'm only planning on doing 1 this month, but I'll make a good go at it.
2 boats already floating with new ladies in them, which bodes well for pushing out a couple more this month when the regulars post times too.

I’m with you for slow pace. On my long slog days, I go after 60-90 minutes at a steady 75% MHR. That sees me going remarkably slow by the end of the session. 30 seconds off is a great second attempt - congratulations. In my pre-reincarnated days, I was easily sub-20’. I’m now at about 24’. It’s amazing what just a few years of neglect will do. Fall Team Challenge starts in 2 days! I'll be on vacation without a rower for the first two days, so I'll have some catching up to do on Thursday.
I'm new to this, but from what I can tell, the goal is basically to contribute as many meters as I possibly can over the course of the 30 days. And it looks like 100k minimum for a participation award. I'm thinking I could reasonably hit at least 150,000m -- but that's a guess just based on my first couple weeks of rowing here.
Any strategies you use to get in the distances and help put Forum Flyers at the top?
I'm new to this, but from what I can tell, the goal is basically to contribute as many meters as I possibly can over the course of the 30 days. Managed to sign up for the CTC and floated another boat for the team. If I understand correctly, if I get a better time by the end of the month (which is my goal), I can post that and it will replace the time I put in today. (My time was 26:39.5 - which was the first time I have gone under a 2:40 split). I am hoping some other faster women get posting their times!

I saw someone else reported issues with recording results for IRL. I saw that I should select Hugh Flyers 2020, which I did. Attempted the 4min (chest still on fire, this one hurts) and wanted to get that in there. Tip/s?

It depends on how much volume you're already doing in a typical week. I normally hit these challenges coming off a lazy time, and so it's a good motivator to get stuck in more regularly. It also helps to stop me thinking about skipping a planned session when I know I might be contributing to the team total.
Yesterday I did 85km on the BikeErg to see if I was in any shape for a 3 day Zwift race next weekend. Realistically I think I'm only going to do one of the 3 days, but that should still add a chunk of metres (even with the 50% BikeErg factor for the challenge). I'm also wanting to do more weekday sessions than I've been doing recently, so hopefully that will help add some metres to the pot.
Every metre gratefully accepted, so don't push yourself too far too quickly!

Nice Anna! Generally we normally can't float a boat or two because of a lack of female scores, so any score will be helpful. It sounded like someone sent an e-mail to the organiser (address is somewhere on the site if you poke around a bit) to get a score added, but they might have fixed the site by now.
