Carol and I did 60km on local trails - we had beautiful weather on Sunday. I got home and decided that I was going to hit a metric century for the day ... but I really didn't feel like riding laps around my neighborhood. BikeErg to the rescue!
Woo hoo!
That's a lot of riding.

Happy Birthday to Minnie band bg. Enjoy the day.

And happy 43d anniversary to Norma and Hubby.

Saturday Karen and I celebrate our 50th. The children have arranged for a party on Zoom, and so Zoom it is. Not exactly a foreseeable venue less than one year ago, let alone August 8, 1970.
Awesome!
CONGRATULATIONS!

Not sure what it is about the Dog Days, but Laura and I took the leap 36 years ago on the 11th. Okay, maybe it wasn't as big of a leap as it first appeared.

Week 2....keep going....

And Wiki says: ( I had to look it up, so figured some of you might not know these things either...)

The dog days or dog days of summer are the hot, sultry days of summer. They were historically the period following the heliacal rising of the star system Sirius, which Hellenistic astrology connected with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever, mad dogs, and bad luck. Wikipedia
The brightest star visible from any part of Earth is Sirius in the constellation Canis Major the Greater Dog. Sirius is sometimes called the Dog Star. The heliacal rising or star rise of a star occurs annually when it briefly becomes visible above the eastern horizon at dawn just before sunrise, after a period of less than a year when it had not been visible. Waaaay back in the day, it marked things like flooding of the Nile..

Hooboy! 67 Lunies on the Dog Days Honorboard....how many can hang on...hang on...hang on! Keep going! Still a few days to be glorious in week 2!

Speaking of dog days...they sure aren't all routine for you or the dogs! There we were, the two goldens and I, about halfway through our loop around the ponds when we heard "Linus! Linus! Come back! (as if)". Within seconds, a well groomed ball of white fluff skidded to a halt at the inquiring nostrils of the goldens. "Oh god" said the chaser. "They are only saying hi - and are friendly," I replied. Usually Snoopy runs off with Linus' blanket, but this version of LInus/Snoopy was on a mission through unchartered territory. Off he went, only turning around to make sure he was still being chased. It took three people to herd Linus back where he could get grabbed - no collar, so required a full body snag. Sometimes the dog is ready for a walk before the dog walker is ready.
