Well done! I've never known a casual half marathon ... maybe I haven't done enough of them? They always loomed large in my mind, which naturally meant that I had to overcome all the psychologically motivated LOOK HOW FAR THIS IS kinds of thoughts.
LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Whoop, whoop!
Greetings Lunies! Dan W tried to get me signed up for a 21 step program to complete today's Solstice Challenge: the "game is afoot" he wrote. Mischief certainly abounds with this team! I am happy to report that I have at least walked more than 21 steps unassisted. There is still a bit of work to do on this recovery, but the hard part of going in there for the slice and dice to become bionic is complete. One thing that has been quite clear is that the work that was done on the BikeErg since September is paying off hugely. Before you're even fully awake from all the anesthetics, you're asked to do leg lifts - both with the surgical and the "good" leg. I completed this task with speed and verve (it was a good nerve block) - and one nurse said "she must have some abs." Hahaha. No. But I definitely have some good quadriceps. The stationary bike or bike erg will be my friend during all this recovery. It has not all been painful; but, it has been uncomfortable at times. I am sure that I owe the cuss jar at least a $20.
I try to hold myself to a good standard with grammar, etc., but there will be mistakes as I am still on some of the meds. Initially, I wondered what language keyboard I had accidentally engaged. It will all work out.
And this segues into nothing really, but there were a couple of things that have made me have some heartfelt laughs during all this work up to and during the knee replacement.
Going in for dental cleanings post pandemic arrival is very different now. I went a couple weeks before my new knee, and am still giggling.
You will find a totally masked and gowned hygienist ... now instead of just finding it hard to answer what you've been asked while the cleaning is happening, you will find it harder to understand the question, too. Hygienists were not considered essential workers during the lockdown - yet golf courses were. This is a mystery to all of us. They made me rinse with hydrogen peroxide - and hydrogen peroxide when you swish it, grows in volume. The more vigorously you swish, the greater the volume. There was this itty bitty bit of hydrogen peroxide mixed with Listerine in the cup, and you have to swish for a minute. As time passed, and the hygienist started counting down at 30 seconds, I could feel the volume growing. Pretty soon, I felt very frothy...like rabies frothy. It was amazing. I almost started laughing which would have been bad. So remember to pace yourself.
All I could think of was when we brushed Jesse’s (the cat’s) teeth, he foamed up just like that ...and ran through the house with foam everywhere. It was so traumatic that we didn’t do that with him again.

So far, 11 Lunies have completed the Solstice Challenge! Good work Lunies! Keep it going!

Re: Whoop, whoop!
Good to hear from you K2, take care and good luck with the recovery.
We're off to the Outback, now that we can travel with some restrictions. And the country should be looking good with recent rain. I'm taking one of my kayaks as many of the rivers and creeks will be flowing, so looking forward to once again paddling in remote locations.
And out of interest, for the "Mad Max" fans amongst us, we'll be in a small locality where they were filmed, basically a one pub town called Silverton that we like to visit when in that region - See you all in about a month...
Cheers, Baz (overcast and rain in the Harbour City today

Welcome back, Bionic Buttercup! I vote that you, and your most excellent quads can cuss as much as you want, without penalty.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I just simply have to laugh at myself, awhile back I put the solstice challenge on my calendar as the 21st, and I hadn't looked at the forum recently, otherwise I would have been reminded that it was on the 20th. Oh well, I completed it today and it just counted as my own challenge...BazZy have fun on your great adventure and stay safe. Happy happy to see K2 back with a new knee and in the 1st inning of her recovery, best to you. Zach, funny how you start out on a casual 1/2 and then the competitive spirit starts taking over and you zero in on a new goal, way to finish in under a 2min. pace.DanWho as always thanks for taking over and coming up with such fun graphics, we have some great talent that leads this team.
