Hello FFs

Just thought I’d drop by and say hello. Having spent much of last year on the bikeerg and with the rower gathering a good layer of dust I have got my rowing mojo back (for the time being at least)! ha ha. I have really been enjoying the wonderful world that is Zwift and then a couple of months ago I discovered that I can row on Zwift. I am still powering a bike avatar but who cares it’s fun. Anyway I just thought I’d have a go at the CTC as I could see you needed another boat floating. I’m still a bit rusty rowing wise but it’s coming back. Good to see lots of names I recognise.

Row on!

great to "see" you Debbie and well done to get back at it
my mojo is struggling big time under pressure of work and training at home but managed to get a 4' for the S8C done

4' = 1107m @1:48 - really slow but at least it is a finished piece
I have no idea about next week's 2k - will really struggle I think

Well done Chris, and welcome back Debbie!

Sorry I'm not more involved in the VIII's, but erg training has been sparse and sprint-oriented. That 30' piece was a happy coincidence. :)

Good to see you back, Debbie. One day we'll get a Zwift ride organised together, but for now we can just keep trading Ride Ons!

Does 4 minutes count as a sprint? Your extra grunt would always be welcome, but we'll give you a pass on the 2km.

WOW, just did another 4min effort. This time a serious effort. Not prepped properly but a meeting got cancelled so I had an hour to spare. Decided to have a go. Had a quick bite to eat and jumped on the rower. Warmup was dreadfull, had trouble getting up to my desired race pace, let alone keeping that for 4 minutes. But gave it a go nontheless and noticed I was really struggling with the pacing. I was planning on keeping the pace as flat as possible but failed completely.
1st min: 1:39.3
2d min: 1:40.6
3rd min: 1:42.0
4th min: 1:36.7
Total 1:39.9 (1204m)

https://log.concept2.com/profile/1181577/log/44020711

Most of the training I did was long endurance stuff, or 5k, 6k timetrials. And some real sprint efforts, 1min intervalls, 500m TT etc.
So I am really having difficulty finding a pace I can keep for 4 mins or a 2k. Because it is too long for a sprint I feel like I am going to fast in the 3rd quarter of the race and I feel like I need to slow the pace, and then when I did that it turns out I had a lot left in the tank. *talking to self* probaly afraid to dig to deep with fear of blowing up in the end, but maybe I should just let that happen sometime. Now it felt like I didn't get everything out of it.

Happy with my time though, under the 1:40 split I was aiming for and it gives me a good benchmark for next weeks 2k. Probably this pace +3 or +4.

nice Ronald and you got there - the flat strategy is best but there is a learning curve with all of them - strong last minute.

1236m (1:37 pace) for the 4' today, not really happy with it but an OK effort, maybe I'll give it a second try this weekend.

OK thanks Lindsay, I wasn't sure if it was on one of those wacky US timezones :)
I'm saving my 1 min and 4 min thrashes until tomorrow, a couple of SB might make me feel better :)

Martin I am sure you have a faster one in you - my best a few years ago was 1224 @1:38.0 at a time when I was at 1:35/6 for the 1k (PB 3:10.x) - go for it

It is one of those wacky US time zones.

It's midnight Eastern Day Time (because C2 are based in Vermont).
That's 05:00 BST, 04:00 GMT
