I was just looking at the scoreboard for the C2CTC and I noticed Martin is in the second boat while katheen is on the first boat. It would make sense to change those two since Martin has a considerable faster time set.

In CTC, as on slipways the world around, the ladies launch the boats. Lwts, male or female, also have one seat reserved in the complement of every boat that launches (receives ordinal points). The maximum number of mhwts per boat is 3. The maximum number of men per boat is 4. The maximum number of lwts per boat is 5. And the max number of ladies per boat is also 5.

I think it is more the shopping trips that are doing me in, rather than the rowing. I got carried away on a hobby that involves computer time yesterday, sat most of the day, the nerve pain was WAY better this AM, almost nothing.Slothful1 wrote: ↑April 23rd, 2020, 3:05 amAbsolutely right! I am doing better today, less nerve pain, was able to do a house chore, vacuumed and mopped the bedroom floor. The inversion table felt pretty nice again. If I let my back calm now, I should be OK for the other bits of the series, so that's my plan. TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY!

So then I tried to walk for 10 minutes (to get credit for active minutes on my Fitbit), nothing fast, can't really indoors anyway, or would step on a cat! It fired off nerves in both legs and FAST. And some nerve pain mid-back and a bit down my thighs as well. I think I'd have been better off rowing for 10! Anyway, I'll let stuff calm again, try a bit of rowing, preferably NOT right next to a shopping trip, see how it goes.
It may be hubby will have to take some risk and do some of the shopping because I don't know if my back will hold up to it. Realistically, if I get the virus, bring it home, chances are pretty good he'd catch it too. Good news is it's still 0-4 cases showing for our zip code. 33 cases for the county now, so it's been steadily rising, but no deaths!

Yes Ronald as other say their has to be a lady to float a boat - we have 2 boats docked and ready to go so if you have any ladies in your circle with access to an erg then now is the time to put some pressure on and sign them up!

Thanks Mat. You've helped us get close to floating Boat 3, which I've just joined after my effort last night. Just need 2 more people which hopefully will come through today before the cut off.
I think I'm finally getting a hint that I'm not at the same level as when I did some of last season's ranking pieces. Just like the 6km I thought I had enough additional fitness over last year to set off at last year's pace, and then ramp up closer to the end. I lasted to the 20 minute point before I started fading (6km was around the 1/3rd point), so I'll take that positive, but I didn't have enough in the tank for a fast finish. With a minute to go I could see it wasn't going to happen, so limped home just below the 7km target I was aiming for.
From past reading of the forum I think there is an element of sport-specific fitness that starts coming into play. I'm feeling at the top of my BikeErg game at the moment relative to last season, and am hitting PBs on some Zwift routes. But I'm also spending longer times away from the rower between trying to have ranking piece blasts. Which might be sub-optimal, when I'm comparing to last year when the rower was the focus.
The plan is to set some markers for the bike and rower at the start of the new season, and then start focusing on the rower more again, with maybe just a weekly ride to justify the Zwift monthly fee.
Still very grateful to have these 2 options available during lockdown. I can only imagine what the weight situation would be like given the limited amount of walking possible at the moment!

I’m training broadly on the pete plan, but intend to throw in the spring series, some longer rows and more road cycling and rollerskiing once the weather improves up here in Finland. I also usually lift weights once or twice a week, mostly focusing on the upper body and midsection to help my doublepoling.
I’m supposed to do a 30k outdoor sculling race in June in a traditional wood boat (as part of a multisport endurance race series), so hopefully there will be some on-the-water training too, if these covid restrictions clear out in time.

Haven't that mantra before, but love it! I don't think my wife would like that one, and I'm also feeling less bullet-proof as I move rapidly away from 40. Managed to nibble 1.5s/500m off my previous avg split finishing with 7894 meters (1:54).

I do most of the cooking at home, so can normally be trusted to buy sensible things on the food side, but the next shopping list does get very passively-aggressively detailed (including pictures sometimes) when I get something wrong!

Well, we don’t do what we don’t practice and I surely didn’t. Only one more entry needed for Thrashing #3 to get on the board. Be your own hero and put in a score today, the final day. Might even get a couple entries for the Fibrillating #4.
