Hang in Lunies! Definitely some trying times as we try to navigate the bug field. It's a good time to work on getting to some personal bests - or just move the needle on the annual meters you thought you might hit vs the ones you suddenly have a lot more time to do.

It was a two raccoon night. Aerie i-spied them, and after giving the raccoons time to get to the other side of the fence - a great chase ensued, noses to the ground, tails at full alert. That would have been the end of it, but dang if the raccoons didn't circle back around for a second pass. Everyone unscathed, but surely there were dreams of The Chase.

Image Lucky 7...liked 5 better !

A big thank you to all our Lunie Challenge Team!

Image

A few more days and the Mud Season Challenge will be fading away. Not sure if the mud will fade that soon, but it's a good thought to have. I am reminded that the last full moon was called the Full Worm Moon because it is the time when earthworms start to appear. I hadn't given much thought to this until after the Skunk Incident. Now prior to releasing the hounds, I walk out with flashlight in hand to survey the territory. I listen for rustling leaves that might signal that Pepe, or a fox or a raccoon is nearby. I heard rustling leaves the other night, and the sound was really close...like at my feet. As I swung the flashlight down, I could see that I was surrounded by a herd of earthworms. They were moving in between the surface and the ground in all their glistening in the light glory. This creeps me out - even though I knew that they were making soil, my lizard brain was not at peace with this thought. These earthworms come out and snag that piece of leaf, and drag.it.down into the ground where it is dinner or worm brunch. They eat. They poop. Soil happens.

Image We're 7th !

Some mighty efforts kept us in situ, including adding two more teammates to the WEC team. Still, other teams were also adding teammates..and this will continue until the 30th. Then, Cinderella, we will see what starts to happen at the stroke of midnight. Building the team is always important, but going all out in the second two weeks is what makes for the real competition !

Image Mud Slide? More like a slow leak...

5000 m participants 2,262 Lunies = 31 (holding the line !)

10000 m participants 749 Lunies = 20 (holding the line !)

Alas, some Lunies will need to put the erg into action today to avoid falling off the charts! You can do this - you are SO close to being a finisher!!

If you were on the fence about buying your OWN erg...you're going to have to get on the waitlist ! Awesome to read that Concept2 ergs are going to new "parents" all over the globe. Now that's a global spread we can get behind!

Image Image

The Lunie Challenge Team is now 94 strong! As noted, other teams have added to their team force also...but the line in the sand is being drawn! At 23:59...that's it ! You won't be able to join a team after the clock strikes midnight. Can we get to 100 strong?!

Image Two days of opportunity remain !!

Image Lucky 7 !

Tremendous amount of meters being generated by all the Challenge Teams! Lunie Challenge Team closing in on 9 million meters! Teams are now set for the duration of the Challenge, so big changes are only going to happen with team member meter production instead of adding to the herd!

Image Tuesday, Muddy Tuesday

5000 m participants 1,788 Lunies = 28

10000 m participants 634 Lunies = 19

There's been a 90 percent drop in the number of participants in the 5K Challenge, and a corresponding 59 percent drop in Lunies participating at the 5K level. For the 10K Challenge, 91 percent of the starting participants are gone baby gone, with 57 percent of the Lunies gone too. Tomorrow will wrap it up !

Spring Series VIII

Post by SweatSlide » March 31st, 2020, 4:52 pm

Anyone know how Spring Series will work for old farts who are not on competitive teams? It sounds like a fun wave to get a little bit competitive, but maybe it is only for competitive racers. Anyone else think it sounded like a hoot?
