Hello Padre,
Yeah I am very familiar with the St Louis airport. BTW the way my wife is from St Louis but I met her here in south Texas. I have never shoveled snow in my life and sometimes wonder what kind of a workout that would be.

Congratulations, Jim! I just made it to 7 million meters today. All of my recent travels to Charleston, SC and three cities in Texas in the last two weeks left me with a nasty cold. I’m going to look to get to my goal of 150K meters before the challenge ends.

Greetings from Fort Eustis, VA! Congratulations to all rowers for an outstanding performance in January's competition. I'm rowing for the Army during the month of February in the Military Challenge, but my meters still count for our team, too. The gym here at Fort Eustis has a couple of the Concept Ski erg machines. I don't know if I'm coordinated enough to make sense of it yet. Fortunately they have lots of Concept 2 machines so I can keep up my meters for the next few days before flying back to the St. Louis area (weather permitting!). Let's get ready to do great things during the March-April competition!

I had a great experience on Thursday at the Fort Eustis gym. They have a cross-fit area that includes a lot of Concept D machines and also two ski-ergs. After I rowed a little more than 10K on the rower, I managed to knock out 2K on the ski-erg. Man, that was tough! I haven't found any other ski-ergs in my travels yet, but I hope to incorporate that workout into my routine. Really good stuff!

I always wanted to try the ski-erg. It really seems like it would be a great workout.

We’re off to a good start for the Virtual Team Challenge. So far 12 rowers have signed up, but there’s lots of time left to join in.

I’m still at Scott Air Force Base near St. Louis and continue to travel extensively around the country. I was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in December and will move to a higher headquarters on Scott in July. If you have time, please check out the new Army Combat Fitness Test videos on YouTube. And pray for me. LOL!

Padre, thanks for your service to our Country, and congratulations on your promotion!

I checked out the new ACFT on the Army website. It looks tough, but I suppose a young motivated person could spend some time preparing for it. We old folks though?!!! :lol:

Thanks, Jim. It’s interesting that for Soldiers who can’t run anymore can row a 5K instead. I will probably take the test for the first time in March or April. I will be doing lots of rowing between now and then.

Hi all, it has been over 3 years since my last rowing post and these are my sins...😉 I kind of burned out on rowing somewhere around the 5 million lifetime meter mark. I have stayed focused on fitness though. I move a lot more iron around now than I used to. I have continued to do cardio 2 or 3 times a week usually in spinning classes (indoor cycling). I lift weights 3 to 4 times a week as well. I want to get back to rowing because I think it is a perfect exercise. Now as I approach 61 I am stronger than I ever was and last year won a bench press tournament for my age group and weight class. I was a member of this team for about 3 years and would like to start engaging and participating again. But I need to get back on the rower. Right now I am training for a power lifting meet at the end of May, my modest goal is to lift 1000 pounds across 3 lifts (Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift). I will stop rambling for now, but I want to start rowing once or twice a week again and would love to participate in some team challenges. TimbukTOO was always my team, I hope you all are doing well.

Welcome back John, it is great to hear from you again!

I am also slowing down on the rower. I am approaching 23M lifetime, about 19M of which occurred on the rower. My goal is to hit 20M on the rower, 3M on the SkiErg and 3M on the BikeErg - for a total of 26M - by the end of November 2021 (my 10th year of tracking meters). To me that would represent 2.6M per year, or about 50K meters per week for 10 years. After that I will probably make a new plan.

When I was in my early 20s I used to work at a fitness center and loved lifting heavy weights, but at my peak I could never move as much weight at you do now at 61. Congratulations, that is impressive!

Thanks for the welcome back. On Saturday I think I will tackle a 20 to 30 minute rowing session. Those are highly impressive meter numbers. With 5 million in the books, I think it is time for me to start on my next 5 million meters. Isn’t there an annual March Madness or March Mudness challenge coming up? If so, I am in.
