Thanks for the tickle, Dave and Graham. Every picture tells a story don’t it. I started on the erg after retirement. I can’t imagine this time investment for anyone working 40-60 hrs per week. I do know of one Flyer member with 30MM+ lifetime meters. I think he took up the erg well before retirement age. Come to think of it, I did a lot of road cycling in the 90’s to the tune of 4k miles per yr. from Wednesday nite traffic jamming and weekend club rides. I don’t remember having a social life outside cycling but I did manage to fit in six and even seven day work weeks some years.
15mill is really clever Jack - you have been very consistent - though 770k in a month is way OTT I reckon.
I've managed somewhere north of 20 million in the past 12 years whilst running a business on FT+ hours (and helping to raise three kids) but it does take some discipline and at times a bit of selfishness I guess. I started a 4/5x per week gym habit nearly 40 years ago though and it is just part of life. Not sure what will happen if and when I stop working!
My understanding is that Joe Keating (on the CTC thread) - is well over 80 million lifetime meters and all on the same machine I think.

I also have 73k OTW in Alden 16 single July-Sept last year. That’s the blue sliver at bottom of column 2020 season. Does not count in the lifetime erg total. More work getting to the pond and back than I want to repeat this coming summer!
Lindsay, your 20,000K is not too shabby for 12 yr. total.
Believe FFs Haskell, Dickie, and Bayko also have big totals over decade+ time spans. FF Martin Stoeger appears to have the Red Shoes this year. Surprising volume for an amazing power athlete who doesn’t quite fit the meter muncher profile!

Yes it is really interesting to watch Martin's training. Without ever being in the same class as a sprinter as him I had to become a "meter muncher" from an anerobic background too to try to do something with the 2k and above and live with the loss of real top end power. It's the only way to go really if you want to get serious OTE.

Shrewd observation! Embarrassed to think I have seen gym rats make this adaptation but didn’t bring it into sharp focus. No stronger contrast than that of Man Mountain Smith doing high weight leg presses with strapped knees and Man Mountain Jones sweating on a treadmill.

I managed around 1.5 million a year before kids came along, even after long work days, but I don't think I was doing much else with my spare time back then. Also was doing at least 1 marathon per season, so the training plan tended to include a lot of long steady pieces. I remember following the RowPro one and finding it odd that some weeks before the actual event they did a 40km piece. So I just chucked an extra 2+ km on and ticked off my first marathon during training.
At least it helped me know what to expect on the actual day, although I still managed to mess up the dilution of my drinks on the day and hit a massive wall just over 2 hours in. Took me a few minutes to figure out what was going so wrong, and fix the problem, before managing to get the energy back to finish off properly.
Haven't done one since 2010, and I'm pretty sure it's going to stay that way. More likely to do another 100km on the BikeErg rather.
I knocked off the CTC today, just to try and keep the callouses from softening and falling off (first time on since last Saturday). Went out at a pace that I did a 10x1' r 1' in January, but started slowing down from rep 4 onwards. Won't be repeating that one this month - didn't enjoy it!
I'm planning on knocking off some ranking distances while I have some relative fitness, before spending a bit more time on the BikeErg, and then returning to the rower to continue trying to attack my 2008 2km PB of 7:19.9. Many cycles of the Interactive Training Plan lie up ahead!

Terry wanted to do the CTC tonite so I went along for the ride even tho I was happy enough with V1.0 - not expecting to do well but managed to get another 1"/500 off so pretty pleased. I am tempted to have a go at <1:40 before the end of the month.
Mine @1:40.5 and Terry was @1:50.5 which he was pleased with as well - we had a bit of a chat about age related decline before doing it but held it together pretty well. I am pretty sure that Lizh can be prevailed upon to have a go this month.

To join a team, click on Teams in your logbook, then use the drop-down list in the Join A Team section to choose a team. Once selected, click Select Team.
If you are not signed up for a personal logbook,
https://log.concept2.com/log is the first step.

When you sign up for the CTC you will have to join the team and then go back a second time to confirm - a bit clunky but works ok and then you can enter as many times as you want each month.

I “joined” ForumFlyers via the C2 logbook. I wanted to do the seasonal challenges as a virtual team member. From my perspective, “declaring” team membership is all that was necessary for CTC registration as my team choice had already been made. Seeing as Estaban’s interest as stated in the competition subforum is CTC, it may be that he doesn’t need to register/formalize FF membership @ Concept 2.com? However, my sense is that the support and resources of the Concept 2 company (this forum the foremost example) outweigh the benefits of the CTC “board game with grunt.” Maybe the tail does wag the dog. Thoughts? Does this need clarification?

Estaban, 3k+ is good. Knocked me off my little bubble and that’s also good. Keep at it. There are targets a lot tougher than me!
