WooHoo!! Hit the 3 million mark ...
Nice! I hit 3 million last month as well.
Congratulations to both of you!
Hitting those milestones feels good I think. That is lot of rowing you have done.

Congratulations! Don’t forget to put in for your 5MM meter gift! I recall it being a long-sleeved t-shirt.

Greetings everyone: from the Oldest Chaplain in the Army. I'm now stationed at Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. I'm just across the river from St. Louis. I have been AWOL for an awfully long time for two reasons: I ran the Marine Corps Marathon at the end of October, and I have to travel quite a bit in my current assignment. In fact I have six brigades scattered around the world, and I'm trying to visit all of my Soldiers in record time! With Winter rapidly approaching my neck of the woods, I have returned to the erg with a commitment to participate in the next few challenges. I will do my best to post once a week to praise your efforts in the coming months. It's great to be back!

Hi Padre, it is good to hear from you! I'm glad you're doing well.

This forum has pretty much dried up. So sad, as I always enjoyed hearing about teammates' progress and other small talk. But we few faithful still chug along. I for one am glad you are back in the boat.

Welcome back!

Greetings to everyone! I'm off to North Carolina Sunday afternoon, but I hope to squeeze in another 10K after I preach tomorrow morning. I should get some more meters in Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and my goal remains to get to 100K meters for the holiday challenge. With my travel schedule looking pretty hectic through February, I probably will look to get 150K for the upcoming challenges in January and February. I hope this message finds everyone in good health and in good spirits. I will do my best to post our results in the January challenge. Happy rowing, everyone!

Happy Holidays, everyone! I still have 30K more meters to row to get to 100K for the holiday challenge. I should get 20K in the next two days and will then have to find a rower "on the road" by Christmas Eve. I have already signed up for the January challenge and will also row for the Army during the February military challenge. Once the January event kicks off, I will post our progress on a weekly basis. I thank God for all of you and wish you all the best as we approach 2019!

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone! The January challenge starts tomorrow! I have already signed up and should be able to rack up some meters before I start traveling later in the month. Please get signed up and start/keep those meters coming. I hope to provide a weekly update to encourage everyone through this challenge.

I have been watching some You Tube rowing videos because you can always look to improve your stroke. It's interesting to see the Cross Fit approach versus the traditional approach. My main takeaway: I'm going to work on 18-20 SPM and good form to get me through 10K rows and beyond.

I look forward to monitoring everyone's progress! Happy New Year!!

Hello Padre, glad to see you are still with the group. Reading your post on youtube videos and better form, I have been doing the same. Seems I was not reaching far enough forward and not going far enough back which was making me row more strokes with less production than I would have preferred. Now practicing lower stroke rate with better form and getting much more distance in less time.

That sounds like a good plan, Jack. I will get back to the gym and on the erg today. I had a challenging commute from the St. Louis airport on Friday afternoon in a snowstorm. I traded my erg muscles for snow-shoveling muscles yesterday (first time since the Bush Administration!). I'm also looking at keeping my stroke rate between 20-22. I'm short, so I can't seem to get to 16-18 SPM. I'm keeping the damper setting at 4, which makes you do more of the work instead of the machine. The Concept 2 workout of the day is also a pretty good way to keep things fresh. Weather permitting, this should be a good week for the erg, but the following week I'm on the road again!
