I have a half marathon run in 2 weeks and I wanted the cardio challenge but wanted to save my feet from some punishment this weekend. Decided to take on the half. I probably wasn't quite ready for it as I'd never gone beyond 10k before, but I stayed pretty steady, took a few water breaks, and finished strong. Definitely feeling a good soreness today!
Congratulations, Jeff B, on completing the first of what will most likely be many half marathons on your rower! Like other first evers, you're going to remember this one. We wish you many more first evers!

I'm running the Tuscaloosa Half in Alabama - state #24 on my 50 state quest. Then I'll be eating shrimp po'boys and creole food for the next week in NOLA.

Good for you! Doing the half and about to do the half. When I make it up the stairs to this place without being winded I am happy enough. In May comes the C2 marathon challenge. I've done it but never with ease. Grin.
Keep on rock'n.
All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.12.18
Day 13 or 14 of 31.....
More mud slinging as 890 people (a 17 percent drop from the previous day), flew off the 5K Challenge Wheel (conversely, only 2 percent of the Lunies slid off). The 10K Challenge Wheel suffered an 18 percent loss or 303 people (and one Lunie for four percent of our total 10K group). We aren't even HALFWAY through the Challenge, and look at those numbers. Still in the mix? Keep going!
Tomorrow is practically a Lunie holiday...it's Pi Day or 3.14. There are sure to be some Lunies incorporating those numbers into their daily totals. This might require a bit of planning, so just giving you a heads up since the totals presented on Pi day will be generated by us today. Not sure how will make Pi day a palindrome, but it could happen.
Btw, not sure how many Lunies wear a Fitbit...wondered if anyone else started their day (admittedly the first Monday after Daylight Savings Time happens here in the US) to find that their numeric totals had carried over from the day prior. It was like a bonus, except the Fitbit people said they would make it right in the totals. Guess that software programs can get mixed up with the DST switch as well.

I think 25 days of 10K meters might be enough of a challenge for me right now.Kona2 wrote:Not sure how will make Pi day a palindrome, but it could happen.

I didn't notice anything off with my Fitbit, yesterday. But, I rarely look at the steps till I'm halfway through my evening row/bike, and want to see how far till I meet my daily goal. My Palm Springs friend asked me, last week, what purpose a Fitbit served ... I'm ofttimes appalled at how inactive I can be, left to my own devices and a new book!Kona2 wrote:Btw, not sure how many Lunies wear a Fitbit...wondered if anyone else started their day (admittedly the first Monday after Daylight Savings Time happens here in the US) to find that their numeric totals had carried over from the day prior. One of those new books that I was reading, mentioned daylight savings time being designated "Romeo," as opposed to "Juliet," which is standard time. Or, maybe it's the other way around, I don't recall which was which. I can't find this on Google (other than Romeo is UTC -5, and Juliet may be used to denote your local time) so am wondering what I was reading about. I think it was a book about a Canadian intelligence officer ... eh!

Whoop, whoop and 75K short of an orbit, Minnie is in major hula mode as she crosses the FORTY million meter milestone. What can we say? She is and has been an incredible contributor, and joins her birthday twin bg as the only two gals on the team with that kind of meter total. Maybe there is something to this birthday twin-dom as they are both so focused. I look forward to celebrating Minnie the Orbiter in just a few days! Well done, Minnie!

First things first, a toast to The Grande Dames ...
When you think about it, the Romeo and Juliet you found with Google could be used to distinguish in or out of DST ...if you lived in a UTC-5 zone, which does apply to a fair amount of Canada, and also to me.
Since UTC is unaffected by DST, UTC-5 always gives a time unaffected by DST. Juliet, being local time, could be affected by DST.
I saw a link with all those military time zone names: https://militarybenefits.info/military-time/.
After reading this list, I now understand why people from your time zone keep looking for that lost Shakespeare draft, which was originally entitled Uniform and Juliet.
And why the Buenos Aires translation was banned... Papa and Juliet.

Minnie the Orbiter !!
Whoop, whoop, and we're going to have another celebration for Minnie. Minnie has been Queen of the Boat, and Minnie the Mooner quite often, and she's certainly hula'd her way through all the 40 millions. She's added the requisite 75K....and that means we have MINNIE THE ORBITER ! Not many Orbiters in the Concept2 world. This is really good stuff!

Day 14 of 31....and we're having some Pi.
Meanwhile, and these are numbers from early today, the 5K participants dropped by another 14 percent overall. The 10K participants dropped 16 percent from yesterday's numbers as well. So. That makes 69 percent dropped from the highest 5K participation, and 72 percent from the highest 10K participation. The Lunies, gritty ergers that we are down 27 percent from our highest 5K participation, and 36 percent from our highest 10K participation rate. Power of a TEAM !!!! Tough challenge! I'm working hard to hang on to the edge, and I may surely fall off as well. Yesterday I decided I would head over to the strength training section of the gym. Oooo. Ouch. Quads and calves are screaming. This did not keep me from playing golf today, but suffice to say not even the dogs got a walk. Guess that wasn't a very good idea.

Congrats, Minnie!! That was a mighty effort to knock out the extra 75K. Now that you've completed the orbit, give yourself a little break.Kona2 wrote:
