Snort. Sometimes you have to go with less decorum and more adolescent humor. Fortunately, Dave Coverley of Speedbump fame agrees.

ANOTHER Reindeer....it's Falling Star...

Post by Kona2 » December 11th, 2017, 10:29 am

But wait....there's a story that goes with this reindeer!
Image
Falling Star (danwho)

The Wickwar Brewing Company is quite real. Located in the Cotswold village of Wickwar, UK, it's surrounded by rolling countryside and says of its products "tall stories from the tall glass."

The Falling Star product is nicknamed The Astronomer. Here's the story from their website:

"THE TALE OF THE FALLING STAR
Established in the 1800’s, Wickwar Wessex Brewery is part of Wessex folklore. Stories abound, telling tall tales of our beer & how they came into being. Take Falling Star, a smooth & fruity ale; they say that 214 million years ago a meteorite crashed into the site on which our brewery now stands. Some say the stardust made its way into the water table and that’s why our beer tastes out of this world.

We don’t know the truth, but we do know that fables should be told over a pint."

So there I was... rowing as hard as I could but it didn't seem like anything I was doing would get my erg out of the path of that meteorite... when POW... and then, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a miniature sleigh filled with pints of space beer.
Great name, thanks.

Image Day 20 of 32....

The erging days just blend one to another! Or maybe it's the days that are blending, but not necessarily the erging?! Keep cranking...you're going to make it !!

Image 37 Lunie reindeer! And at least 11 on track for earning a reindeer!

Last year, in case you're wondering, we had 50 reindeer. I don't think we'll eclipse that number this year, but would love to be wrong! Erging is a seasonally variable thing - some move on to other exercise formats for awhile, and then they come back ... or not. We are delighted that we have so many on the roster, and hope that being part of the team is helping everyone reach their exercise goals in a more painfree way.

I have to admit, this was actually 2 days worth of rowing! We went to see The Nutcracker on Saturday evening (I'm a former dancer so seeing The Nutcracker every years is one of my FAVORITE Christmas activities). I managed to row when we got home, but went to bed without uploading. On Sunday, I rowed and uploaded both days together.

I'm still aiming to get my 200k (and my pin!)

Congrats to all the recent reindeer and other milestones! You all are a great inspiration to me!
